To ask about your little rebellions?

I’m sitting here about to get changed for Zumba and I want to wear shorts but my legs aren’t shaved. I will be wearing shorts anyway. It’s a little rebellion, a tiny “up yours” to the man.

I have always found little ways to rebel (recovering people pleaser) that don’t actually hurt anyone so that I don’t have one massive rebellion and ruin my life one day!!

I also don’t share food, even with my kids, and am unapologetic about it. It’s now a family joke.

What little rebellions do you enjoy?

Lol I do this too! As a joke I bought some theatre tickets as Vicountess Coffeetree and now that theatre sends me all the bulletins. 😚

My National Trust card and mail is all addressed to ‘Princess’. Why was that even an option? Of course I was going to choose it!

I heard this inside my head in Alan Bennett's voice.
😂

If you did this in our church in winter you would have icicles hanging off!

My late MIL used to very tidily fold tea towels and pile them up on the worktops, I used to unfold them and scatter them round the kitchen.

Ok. I would actually hate you for doing that. I like neat folded piles of tea towels. What's the problem with that?

I was often in the middle of doing things and would need to use them, when not in use there was a rail for them.

Right. So why not just use them and leave them? Why the deliberate mess?.

Our TV is currently on ITV, on mute

We have no interest in watching football, but wish to add to wonans sports viewing figures

Unless you're part of the viewing figures scheme what you watch makes no difference to the figures. They're extrapolated from a data set of people who take part, with their full knowledge and permission so you would know if it was you, not actually calculated from every TV in the country.

Stick stamps with the kings/queens head upside down

Page 17 of the thread - this is the first one to make me LOL😂

JazbayGrapes · 22/07/2023 12:58

Indeed. Less an act of rebellion that one of dishonesty, I would suggest

It is basically theft. Over here people often see minor shoplifting as a joke, but in another country it may land you a very unpleasant experience with shop security or even police. Yes, over a stupid plastic bag.

Absolutely. For what, 15p ?

When my children had been complaining about their dinners a lot, I would make beef stew with lots of vegetables and potatoes, I meal I quite like but the rest of the family doesn't. I called it the reset dinner, it would be some time before they complained about dinner again as they knew there was a second portion in the freezer.

My former line manager used to go out of her way to undermine me in a variety of different ways. I am a lawyer and we time record work in 6 minute intervals which then influences our pay and bonus etc. She used to go into the system and change my time recordings for example, which meant it looked like I was not doing the work and had a knock on affect on what I could bill. Senior management knew she was doing this by the way, but they were weak bastards and did nothing.

So my password was fuck off [her name] you bitch.

All well and good until I was on leave and the big boss had to call me to access my computer for something. With a totally deadpan voice I told him my password expecting to be bollocked. Instead he fell about laughing.

(Eventually she got fired for fiddling something else. After I left though sadly as I would have enjoyed watching that.

I use sweary passwords but more because I am so fed up with some websites. I am just typing out how I feel when I type out EffThisShite!@ Or whatever .

I’m the only one at work who refuses to add a profile picture to our project management software.

They know what I look like ffs.

Audible credits don’t expire as long as you have an active membership and you can roll over up to 6 on a standard membership. You don’t have to spend them in the month you get them.

Mine only lets me roll over 3

I wouldn't take a supermarket bag without paying, but I bring my own shopping bags.

I've never seen anybody I've been with do so either, because I think most people realise that this sort of thing is another contributing factor to the prices going up for everybody as well as the plastic waste. You live and learn.

LOL 🤣 according to supermarkets themselves carrier bag prices go up in order to discourage carrier bag consumption. It's nothing to do with costs. And do you know how they monitor carrier bag consumption? That's right, they count sales. So every time you buy a carrier bag, that's another tick on the chart that shows we're all using too many bags, which ultimately leads to a price increase for everyone.

On the other hand, me taking the odd bag without scanning it when I've forgotten my reusables/am on the hop, that doesn't register at all. Statistically I am driving down the bag charge because I'm not recorded as using any bags.

You're welcome.

Part of my job requires me to set up accounts or send letters. So if it is for a couple I'll always put the womens name first. I don't know why but it makes me happy to think that yes women are equal and just as capable so I'm going to address them first.

I love this!

gingerguineapig · 22/07/2023 14:52

onefinemess · 22/07/2023 08:53

So, you're raising children to actively discriminate against men and hold the default belief that ALL men are inherently misogynistic in some way, despite the fact your actions negate any possibility of confirming whether the man in question would move out of your way by themselves.

You're the reason our children are so messed up and there's such a divide within society between men and women. You're promoting hate to a young child.

Alternatively of course, everyone could just keep left on the pavements instead of blocking the whole thing and there would be no conflicts or need to play patriarchal chicken Grin

Easy.

On the dishwasher, I didn't know there was a right way and wrong way. I firstly take out the easiest stuff to put away.

gingerguineapig · 22/07/2023 14:53

As for the carrier bags, if you don't pay for them, it's theft. Look up the offence under the Theft Act.

gingerguineapig · 22/07/2023 14:54

Oh and I have changed my username even though I am neither ginger nor a guinea pig and don't have any pets. I guess that is marginally rebellious :)

Interesting logic. Still theft.

Was thinking of this thread yesterday whilst visiting my Aunt in her care home. My aunt is mid 80s and has always been a bit of a character though vascular dementia has stole a lot of that now including her voice on occasions.

The care worker was trying to encourage her to eat and drink whilst they were tidying her room but every time they turned their back she gave them the fingers behind their back and scrunched her faceup like a bold child. It made my heart so happy and I hope if I live to that age have her sass.

I refuse to call them McNuggets when ordering them at drive thru or the counter. I just call them chicken nuggets. I just don't like that they've put Mc in front of nugget.

I really like this. Petty for no reason. Fully support.

That reminds me of my grandmother. She was in bed, very ill, and I think people were encouraging her to eat when she no longer wanted to. After she died we found an iced cupcake in her bedside drawer. So typical of her, polite but a rebel at heart.

We bought a old church pew for the breakfast room. Some overly religious relatives like it because of its history. I have been known to find it a handy place to leave a pile of books on Humanism when they are visiting.

I don't iron tea towels. Sorry Mum.
