How do I walk with this THING on my leg (gross picture alert)

Fatthighproblems · 20/07/2023 23:33

I had what I thought was an ingrown hair on the inside of my thigh for a couple weeks. Over the past few days it’s turned into this fluidy ball which became very painful and today it finally popped a load of blood.

My partner has spent the past hour squeezing everything out and it is STILL NOT DONE. To my despair it very much hurts.

While mainly blood and clear fluid there was a white bead in it which I’m assuming is pus but was v hard. There is definitely more to come out of it but I cannot take another half an hour!

Anyway my dilemma: I am very very overweight (in the process of making lifestyle changes which is currently very slow moving…) and am diabetic, and wounds don’t heal well on me (it took 4 months for a cat scratch which turned into an open wound to heal and has left a hefty scar).

Obviously being fat, my thighs chafe like crazy and let me tell you even walking to the bathroom has been and is agony right now. How am I meant to deal with my thighs rubbing together with this?!

Not sure what I’m asking here but if anyone has any advice on how I can heal this quickly or any tips on getting rid of the pain as quickly as possible that would be v appreciated! I already know I need to stop eating so much chocolate.

Grim picture attached for those who like to see squeezed spots/ingrown hairs/boils. Look away if squeamish.

See a Dr or you could end up with a very nasty infection.

Before the explosion..

Try asking in sporners corner. They might have some useful advice

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 20/07/2023 23:38

You need to see a doctor.

Bonfire23 · 20/07/2023 23:39

For the chafing you are probably going to need a dressing over it

1vandal2 · 20/07/2023 23:39

Absolutely need to go the docs if you're diabetic

Lavendersquare · 20/07/2023 23:39

Bathe 2 hourly with cooled boiled water with a couple of drops of tea tree oil mixed in. It's really good stuff and will help with the healing.

Rolamum · 20/07/2023 23:39

After being in hospital for the best part of a year as a survivor of Necotising Fasciitis - I beg you to get it looked at!

OwlBasket · 20/07/2023 23:39

Yes. See a doctor, or at the very least a pharmacist. You’ll need advice on cleaning and dressing it, especially with the diabetes

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 20/07/2023 23:39

You need to properly and thoroughly clean that, cover it for tonight and get booked into your GP or urgent care via 111 tomorrow.

I'd usually be a bit more willing to watch and wait and just keep it clean but as your have diabetes you are more at risk of an infection so need it to be checked over to make sure that all gunk has been properly removed and it's thoroughly cleaned and cared for.

Rachie1973 · 20/07/2023 23:43

And when it’s healed use chub rub shorts in a gentle fabric to avoid in future x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2023 23:43

You have diabetes and a history of poor healing?

Stop Squeezing It
You will cause bruising and push the infection deeper

Boil water add a good spoonful of salt , cool it till its warm and use as a compress to draw and act as an antiseptic . Its very soothing .
Keep a close eye , any spreading infection (redness , streaks of red going up your leg, feeling flu-ey ) you go to A&E

Otherwise phone your GP first thing you will most likely need antibiotics and they can advice dressings

STOP SQUEEZING ! Never mind Sponer Corner

AngryBirdsNoMore · 20/07/2023 23:43

Ouch!

I agree with others to see the doctor. In terms of a short term fix of how to stop your thighs chafing, which you ask about, Marks and Spencer sell really good anti chafe pants. They’re like cycling shorts but of a thinner material. As a lady with larger thighs, I find them a game changer in preventing thigh rub.

But they’re a very short term / ultimately longer term fix to prevent thigh rub. Doctor!

OdeToBarney · 20/07/2023 23:46

See your GP tomorrow, urgent care sooner if you feel at all unwell. Draw a ring around the red area so you can see if the redness is spreading. And fgs stop squeezing it (said as a die hard squeezer myself, but you are diabetic and that looks too nasty to mess with!)

Ahhh now I am a bit worried. I’ll keep an eye on it. Will ring doctor in the morning as I don’t know how it can heal if my thighs are constantly rubbing together.

Type 2 diabetic also.

Had this in my inner thigh near grown in November tried to carry on thinking it would burst / go away in its own time.

Ended up in surgery and blood sugar like I've never had I have never felt so ill.

Do you have a walk kn / urgent care centre near you if you can't get to gp tomorrow? You must go please

Remaker · 20/07/2023 23:58

Please see a dr, a friend needed surgery for something similar and she is not diabetic.

MumblesParty · 21/07/2023 00:07

It’s nothing to worry about but you do need antibiotics. Call the surgery in morning, the minor illness nurse should be able to sort it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2023 00:11

Bathe in cool salt water frequently. Cover with a non stick dressing, the sort for burns is good. Get it seen as you are Diabetic.

Mamanyt · 21/07/2023 00:16

You are diabetic. See a doctor. The hard white baII may have been the incapsuIated ingrown hair, but that should be checked. IF it was not, then this wiII aImost certainIy recur over and over untiI the hair is removed.

Notyourdime · 21/07/2023 00:25

Looks like a boil under the skin. Put some savlon on it. It'll clear in a few days. If you start to feel unwell, like a fever. Contact a doctor as it may be an infection and you'll need anti biotics.

PlinkPlonkFizz · 21/07/2023 00:25

Another one agreeing it looks infected, looks like you'll need antibiotics and a proper dressing. It could turn serious very fast - see your GP ASAP!

CallieQ · 21/07/2023 00:36

It would have been better to let the nurse/doctor deal with this.. you need antibiotics

AlfietheSchnauzer · 21/07/2023 02:11

This is what you need! It's silky and stops chafing. Also provides pain relief & soothes. Before putting this on though, I'd pop some Germolene Cream on as it is antiseptic and contains a mild anaesthetic to take away some pain
