Worried about the speed of referral appointment....

I took so long to actually make an appointment (fearing the brush-off IF I could even get an appointment), that the speed with which progress is made (so far) is a worry!
Had a f-to-f appointment on Monday, with a GP - then was able to (via sms/link) get a "Tele-dermatology" appointment the next day (Nurse). She said that the images go to various Dermatologist but results go into my next-closest hospital, and I would hear by mid-August. If no concern, could get procedure done at Surgery - or if needed further looking into, would go via Hospital route (as I understood it).
So today (!) I got a call from the Hospital for a next week appointment.
That's very efficient - but also worries me a bit....
Anyone else had things happen so speedily and it not be a big issue?

My dad got a referral recently for nothing worrying and it's been really quick, even down to the operation date in 6 weeks
He's detached his bicep, so it's not something time limited

I needed an CT scan following an ultrasound scan and my GP warned me it would take several months. I was terrified when the appointment came through for less than 2 weeks later. They’d had some cancellations and I got slotted in, nothing sinister going on.

It could be something or nothing.

If I were you, I'd prefer myself for a middle of the road diagnosis. It may be cancer but perfectly treatable. Most skin cancers are.

Hopefully it turns out to be nothing worrying but you won't know until you get there. It'll be a hard week waiting but better to know sooner than later, whichever way it goes.

All the best.

Oops, I meant prepare, not prefer.

That's pretty much what I will try to do... and in a sense I am thankful for the efficiency.
The location is not great (and the only place I remember every getting sunburnt) - right on the end of my nose! Not much spare to excise if necessary - and I don't even have a very big nose.

I was recently referred to gastro under the 2 week pathway as I had been experiencing stomach issues, bloating and blood tests revealed low iron. They said they were referring me as an emergency as they needed to find the cause of the bleeding leading to the low iron. Possibly trying not to worry me that it could something serious although I knew that's why they were doing it quickly. Also if the didn't do it as an emergency case I would be waiting 50 weeks. Anyway had gastroscopy and colonoscopy within 2 weeks and found a few things that needed treatment but luckily nothing sinister.

That's good that they sorted it out for you 😊 Yes, the Nurse had said that there had been up to 18 months wait for dermatology referrals before the introduction of this Tele-Dermatology. But this seems to be super-quick!

What was your low iron level if you know? (Mine is 6umol/l at the moment, down from 8.)

These sorts of things work within very structured frameworks. If they can’t immediately rule something out, they will follow a set protocol which includes the 2 week referral process. And speed isn’t always a sign of something sinister. I had a breast lump dr appointment, mammography, scan and biopsy, and then surgical removal all within 8 weeks. It wasn’t cancer but they accelerate you along as if it is until they know it isn’t, if that makes sense. Don’t worry too much.

I don't know what my iron levels were I'm afraid but I'll find out next time I speak to the doctor.
