I've noticed a growing genre of YouTube video where the user will film themselves "auditing" an industrial estate, police station, job centre - whatever.
A standard video goes as follows. The cameraman (I've yet to find a female auditor) will walk into - say, a job centre plus - under the guise that they're filming leaflets for their viewers to see. Security approach and politely ask why they're filming. The cameraman says "Am I obliged to give a reason? What law says I have to have a reason?" Security explains the auditor is on private property and cannot film. The cameraman retaliates - "Who owns this building? The government do mate! Who pays for the government? ME! I pay my taxes pal! That means the public own this building and I'm entitled to film in public!".
They will also look for ANYTHING they can threaten the authority with to feel superior. If a security guard doesn't have their SIA badge on display the cameraman says, "It needs to be on display or it's 6 months prison mate!" On another occasion an auditor asked workmen at a construction site whether those operating heavy machinery had been breathalyzed.
Another common tactic to provoke angry responses (and follow up with, "Don't speak to a member of the public in that tone!") is to fly a drone over private property under the guise that, "You don't own the airspace so can't do anything about it." On one occasion, this drone was going over a hotel and guests' bedroom windows! The cameraman maintained that since the hotel didn't own the airspace they were harassing him when they asked him what he was doing.
Thoughts on this absurd practice Mumsnet? If you want to see for yourself look up DJ AUDITS on YouTube.
