Anyone have a ninja air fryer?

I’m struggling with something I thought would make my life easier! Food is either undercooked or burnt! I’m confused with all the settings- airfry, bake, max crisp, roast etc.

what do I do for things like chicken in a sauce (eg hunters chicken)? What setting would you use and how long?

Also, I put potatoes in for 15 minutes on ‘max crisp’ hoping for some lovely roasties, they were lovely and brown on the outside but not fully cooked on the inside.

I’m clearly incompetent but want to make this work- any suggestions please?

Should be really clear guidance in the chart at the back of your booklet.
If not precooked for e.g. 15 minutes wouldn’t be long enough for potatoes. Usually you don’t need to precook. Chips are soaked first in water, dry and add a little oil to coat in a bag. Usually ready in 20 to 25 minutes.

I’ve not had any disasters with mine. A quick google will give you setting temp and time. Check food part way through and shake or turn. Allow time to heat up as that can take a while.

I use the grill to make kebabs chicken and mushrooms, peppers with flavoured oil brushed on. I’ve made toasties in the basket, baked things etc.

I have two the foodi max and the dual airfryer I love them, you do need to read instructions and follow recipes though to get the hang of them but once you have it's worth it. I've even taught my 15 year old asd child to cook herself a Sunday dinner all in one basket.

I wouldn't cook a dish that required a sauce in the air fryer myself. I sometimes cook boned chicken pieces which tale 15-20 minutes. We use it a lot for pre made food - frozen croissants, crumbed chicken breasts etc.

Also to roast vegetables, jacket potatoes etc. Or to make ooozy melted baked feta.

I make quick.banana muffins in the morning , or make big batches of individual spanakopita and cook as needed.

Some.people.cook steaks and chops etc but I don't bother as prefer on stove top.

Hunters chicken airfry for 20, check at 15

Roast potatoes spray with oil and cook on roast for 15 and max crop for 5

I par boil before airfrying but just lower the heat a bit check more often. I made teriyaki salmon in mine last night it is amazing but took a while to get timings and not overcook so I cook on less heat and pop it up a bit towards the end. It’s trial and error really.

I do. Have you got the booklet as it gives a lot of guidance.
max crisp only really works with frozen chips. Didn’t work w frozen fish in breadcrumbs
I use air fry unless the instructions in booklet say ‘roast’
reheat is 170 and just for reheating from fridge.
fish, meat and homemade chips are my favourite things to cook in it. Chicken thighs are v juicy etc.
the more you put in the longer it takes to cook

ooo SavBlancTonight

Please can you share banana muffin recipe?

Basic recipe is:

100g self raising flour
I mashed banana
1 egg
1 tablespoon syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 teaspoons oil or melted butter
Pinch salt.

Mix together then put in lined ramekins and cook.on 180 for about 11 minutes (might need to play with it a bit to adjust for your air fryer).

I usually use a bit less flour and make up the rest with a combo of oats and wholemeal flour (something like 65g flour, 25 wholemeal and 20g oats). But then need a little extra baking powder. Makes them a bit more chewy but also nutritious.

Thanks so much. Very kind.

You need to read the manual.

Max crisp is for frozen food such as fries and chicken nuggets.

The others are pretty self explanatory.

For roast potatoes I use the roast function. It sets 160' for 15 mins and I add 15 mins extra.

I love mine (currently eating a scone fresh from it) but it has taken a little trial and error to get my timings right. For roasties, I par boil my potatoes for 10 mins and give them a shake to fluff up the edges. Add your oil to them and then 20 mins on the highest air fryer setting, giving them a good shake half way through. If they need more time, do it in 5 min bursts. I always finish mine with 5 mins on Max Crisp at the end.
