What to do over the summer with a newborn and a nine year old boy?

Weve just had our very much wanted new addition, she’s gorgeous and we all adore her including our son. He’s been incredibly patient with the fact we can’t give him as much attention. She is pretty hard work at night, wakes up loads and has reflux which means we hold her half an hour after feeds at night and most of her daytime naps are upright and on us. But for some reason she doesn’t like the baby carrier which means we just sit for hours. I dont know what we are going to fill 6 weeks of the summer holidays with, my son loves school and I wish it were still open to be honest!!

Please hit me with very low maintenance ideas, practical ones for exhausted parents! Need to keep our 9 year old entertained and care for our sweet newborn!!!

She will need to put up with being carted around a bit so that the 9 year old can have fun too over the summer. Decent pushchair so she can be parked and you can play in the park etc. can he have friends round? So he doesn’t need your attention all the time. Lego sets for rainy days?

When you say baby carrier is that the clip on car seat? If so I didn't really use that I used the proper lie down bulky part of the pram and DC slept like a dream when we were out!

Kind of similar situation here, 7 year old boy plus 4 month old daughter. Loads of play dates, in fact son is upstairs now with a pal crashing about. Have a few lined up over the hols. He's doing a sports camp with a friend for a week even though I'll be home due to maternity leave. Baby is being cared for overnight by my parents twice so we can camp for 2 x 1night, son loves camping and don't want him missing out. We are only going 20 minutes down the road but it means toasting marshmallows, kicking a ball around and all the best bits he likes. Baby will join us in the afternoons but will go to parents for bed time to avoid annoying other campers. I also got a membership for a local animal farm with play areas. I can sit with baby and drink tea and play on my phone while he tears around the soft play, then wheel baby around the farm bit. I also have a stash of toucan craft boxes for rainy days or when I can't get out of the house.
