To wonder what I'm supposed to do in the meantime

I'm 1 year post partum and due back at work soon in a very physically and mentally demanding job. I've lost a lot of weight since birth and am still gradually losing even though I've eaten what I wanted and hired a coach to try and help me build strength and put weight back on again. Nothing has worked and I'm now under 50kg (5'3 for reference).

I went to the GP for bloods due to this, as well as feeling very lethargic, being irritable, etc (constantly, even when I'd had a break From DC). The results came back that my thyroid is high, but rather than trying to treat it I've just been told to request more bloods in 3-6 months time, so am having to continue living with the symptoms it's causing.

I've reached a point where I struggle to carry a heavy bag of shopping to the car because I'm so weak. I've genuinely tried doing what I can to get myself physically fit enough for work again but I now know I'm fighting against an elevated thyroid.

AIBU to question how I'm supposed to go back to work when I'm physically not strong enough and have no GP backing?

Yanbu. I've got a 9.5 month old and though I eat better than before I am losing weight and am constantly drained. More than normal. Haven't been to GP yet but if I did and they fobbed me off like you I would just keep going back and letting them know how badly it's affecting me. You need to push and make them listen. Sorry can't be more help

Go back to the GP and say it's getting worse and you'd like to see an endocrinologist for their opinion. The referral might take time, so it's better to start the process soon.

Do you have any lumps on your thyroid? Is it normal size?

I had postpartum hyperthyroidism after my first pregnancy, didn't realise until I was 9 month PP and they said the same to me. I think it's because it generally corrects itself if it's postpartum so you just have to ride it out 😔 mine did return to normal and I didn't have it 2nd time around

Is this high within normal or significantly high? If the latter, you should get treatment.
