Wham.

2 years ago a book by Andrew Ridgely. Now a Netfix documentary and multiple appearances on Chat Shows.

I'm sure any Wham fan knows the history of how they met etc and those who aren't fans don't care.

There are loads of bands etc who met at school and formed friendships, nothing new really?
Why the obsession with Wham?

Does everyone love Wham?
What can they come up with next. Its in the past now?

I was too young to appreciate them at the time, although I can remember "wake me up before you go go" on the radio around the time it came out.

They undoubtedly gave us some of the best pure pop music and it has mostly stood the test of time well. As such a bit of fuss about their 40th anniversary is fair enough.

I watched the documentary and thought it was interesting, entertaining and heartwarming in equal measure.

They clearly had a very special and deep, genuine friendship that it was lovely to hear about. I think AR deserved to have the record set straight about his role. His decision to step back and then later to let George go solo with no animosity or resentment was incredibly generous and pretty rare in the music industry. Especially in the face of the press implying that he was riding on George's coattails.

Wham! was one of the first groups I became a fan of as a young un. Make it Big was the first album I ever bought myself with my saved up pocket money.

I followed their story and subsequently became a lifelong George Michael fan. I was absolutely gutted when he died and still get a bit choked up that he's not still here being his brilliant self, making fabulous records and roasting people on Twitter.

I will never not be happy to see the Whamness making a comeback in the public eye.

So what?

Hardly an OBSESSION op!

We get documentaries and films about everyone's life and story! Take it or leave it, watch or....don't?

I was born past the time that Wham was popular and still love them! I want as much Wham as possible and as much celebration of George Michael's talent as we can get. Off to rewatch that rehearsal video of Someone To Love for the millionth time...

I know what you mean. I have been hooked on watching that rehearsal video too in the past.

It was George's 60th birthday anniversary 25th June..that's why Netflix made the film and Andrew Shirley and Pepsi are backing it up.
Great music and lovely people❤️❤️❤️❤️

I loved Wham, went to many of their concerts, including The Final at Wembley, I haven't seen the documentary yet.

I absolutely loathed Wham! as a teenager. I was a very joyless Goth.

However, as an adult I can say with my hand on my heart that they wrote some of the best pop songs ever written. I really enjoyed the documentary- was very interesting.

Hey now, as an ongoing goth now in my 30s, I fucking love Wham! Not just a phase. I'll take George Michael equally with my eyeliner and fantastic dress sense thank you very much Grin
