Another one here who hates all the commercialism, my 7yr old DD was going on about buying me a card and I told her I didn;t want one, I'd prefer hand picked daffs and a note saying she cares with a big cuddle.
Just like I told her valentines day was a sham she knows mothers day and father day is pretty much too, but being a mother I do know that sometimes having one day a year when we can be spoilt is absolutely desperately needed!
I don't speak to my own mother so I don't think about her on mothers day but I do think about DP's mum, she works hard and does everything for her family, I think mothers day is a good excuse for me to say to her boys 'Get off your arse and look after her today' and know they'll take noticve because they have to iyswim, would still personally prefer to be appreciated because I'm appreciated ratehr than because it's a day on the calendar that, just like Valentines day ahs lost all it's traditional meaning and been grabbed by the card/present manufacturers.
