Why do you think he hasn’t?
What will happen next?
Starting to feel more sinister than just pure incompetence - what could he be hiding?

Who knows, just as long as his trousers are up.

Hmmm... Too much to ask?

CaroleSinger · 12/07/2023 20:55

The government failed to hand them in. Not him personally.

I'd prefer the Covid inquiry to be suspended until those who should face criminal charges have their time in court. Corruption charges, and in the case of Mr Johnson, corporate manslaughter.

Indeed.

Taking his cue from Cummings who is to this day in contempt of Parliament for refusing to appear before a Parliamentary Committee in 2019.

Didn't stop Cummings taking up a job in Downing Street while still in contempt.

Someone pointed out a few years ago that there's a growing strand of political behaviour (the example they gave was a particular wing of the US Republican party, but it's not confined to them), which takes the line of, "This has always worked by the convention that people in position X, do Y. But what if we just... don't?"

Cummings and Johnson seem to exemplify that.

So convention is that when summoned by a Parliamentary Committee, one attends.

But what if I just... don't?

The Covid Inquiry, confirmed by the High Court, says the government must had over Johnson's WhatsApp messages.

But what if they just... don't?

I didn’t know that about Cummings, that’s outrageous. How can there have been no consequences?

The disruptor ‘Just don’t’ style is very Trumpian isn’t it.
