Out of hours building work

Is there anything I can do about this? Is the guidance around hours when building work can be carried out actually law?

Neighbours are clearly getting a job done on the cheap - they started with jackhammers on the drive at 8am on Saturday. The noise went on until around 3pm. Zero chance of enjoying the garden. The builders have since been here every evening from around 6. There was no warning given regarding the noise which I would have thought would be common courtesy to those living around you.

This is out of order, right?

I've just literally sent in a complaint to the council but God knows when they'll get around to looking at it.

Well we're a month on more and I'm still day here listening to angle grinders at 7.30pm. Beyond pissed off now. Council have done the square route of fuck all about my noise complaint. First sunny evening in ages and we couldn't even use the garden. There's dust and shit flying everywhere as well as the noise. 😡

Go to the next stage of the council complaints process. You have given them time to respond.

They did respond. Asked me to complete a noise diary, which I did. Then they referred it to a different dept. Then radio silence.

Who are they and what are they building? DIY (including getting friends in on it) doesn't actually have a time limit.

They're having a drive and patio done. Not DIY. And think that when we've endured several weekends (inc Sundays) of noise, as well as several evenings until 9pm, we'd have a valid noise complaint.
