Job offer

Hi all,
not sure where to ask but here goes…
I’ve got a job which pays ok but could be better, the job itself is not stressful but a bit stagnant due to me knowing all in’s and out’s. I work 31 hours a week with fridays off and it is fully remote with occasional office visit once or twice a month
now, I have a job offer from another similar company on a similar role which pays about 10k more but have less benefits such as private insurance and annual 8% bonuses. Plus it requires three days in the office which is 40+ minutes drive away. This means I will have to have increased childcare costs plus fuel costs to drive. So all in all it doesn’t sound that lucrative and makes me think that it’s not really worth it? I have no urgency to leave my current job but wanted a change but is this new offer doesn’t make particularly better off and will add extra stress. I’m thought 42 years old and tend not to get many job offers when interview so this could be my only chance?
i have got till Friday to respond.tia

Can you renegotiate the salary? Tell them it isn't really to your benefit unless they offer you more.

Renegotiate. Ask for more money or less time in the office.

and you could speak to your current job and tell them you’ve been offered 10k to do the same job you’re doing there. so can they increase your pay, or offer you some other opportunities

I’ve tried to renegotiate to two days a week in the office which they said no to due to the company policy.
as for the salary I haven’t tried but get an impression they won’t increase it referring to their policy as well

I'd say thanks but no thanks. If you are happy, but bored you have no reason to go to them.

As for mentioning it to my current work, I tried to renegotiate my salary in the start of the year, they are refusing to increase it until I work towards a next band which is quite subjective and could take years to achieve plus my company is potentially going to be acquired by another one in the next few years so they may not want to keep their staff anyway? X

They weren’t at risk of losing you then.
and they need you at the moment presumably. How fucked would they be if you left? How hard are you to replace? That indicates how good of a position you’re in to renegotiate

My DH was in the same boat. He was approached by another company, offered £10k more than he was on in his other job but would've had to have gone into the office (an hour each way) three times a week. We would also have had to have used wrap around care for the children. As it happened, he spoke with his current manager and they gave him a £10k pay rise (on top of another £10k pay rise he had just had) to match the new job's salary, in order to keep him! For them, my DH is worth his weight and is brilliant at his job, so they didn't want to lose him. I would ask your current manager for a pay rise and say you have been scouted elsewhere. If they don't offer you anything, then you haven't missed out but it's definitely worth a shot.
