I bought some straightners last week, which are now "on sale"

i paid 30.77, they are "on sale, from 37.99, to 30.39"

I know a lot of mumsnetters are savvy, but do watch out

Tbh I’ve had a look and think it’s all rubbish nothing worth buying and don’t get the hype

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 11/07/2023 09:56

For a second I thought we’d given a national holiday to the rank caffeine filled
shite energy drinks.

You can check on camelcamelcamel.com it's a really useful website.

I have been keeping an eye on a multi salad chopper which I was hoping might go down, it hasn’t but now listed as an Amazon prime deal! Cheeky. On items prices seem to have been inflated before discount.

RoseDog · 11/07/2023 12:22

The only thing I was interested in was cat food and it is cheaper so I've bought 2 big boxes, it's quite a bit cheaper than Asda too which is where I do my shopping.

I'm never quite sure how good the deals are on amazon prime days!

dutysuite · 11/07/2023 13:45

I also had a charger in my basket which now says it’s on the Prime day deal but all they’ve done is cross out the rrp to make it look as if it’s now on offer.

Also available as a browser extension.

It's a great bit of software.

I noticed they did that before black Friday. They artificially inflated a lot of prices of barbies and legos, and then claimed they were a "black Friday deal" but their prices were still more expensive than other toy shops

I find amazon isn't always the cheapest option. But for me, the unlimited free shipping and easy payments make it so much easier to click and buy.

buzzlightyearsgloves · 11/07/2023 13:59

Yes I've checked a few things from my basket and they've just inflated the price or crossed out the RRP but kept it the same. Prime also doesn't seem to be next day anymore for me!

OooohAhhhh · 11/07/2023 14:18

I just look on Amazon warehouse deals all year round. I've had some great bargains for new /open box or slight markings etc. Some of the stuff you can barely even tell anything was wrong with it.
Prime day is good & there are some deals to be had. But I agree that on some items they will just bump up the price anyway to make it look like you're getting a deal, as Amazon prices change all the time.

The Fairy platinum plus dishwasher tablets were a bit cheaper than the supermarkets, I also bought some Kleenex tissues and some Lindt lindors which were a bit cheaper, I generally get boring stuff like this on Prime day but its quite easy to know the general price of these anyway

Cirice · 11/07/2023 14:36

I bought a Joseph Joseph Soap dish on Friday for my bathroom, I paid £6 which was supposedly reduced anyway.
It's on a Prime Deal today at £5.99.

I did buy an exercise bike in the sale though, but anything I do buy on there I tend to run through camel camel camel first anyway to be sure it's actually a deal.
