To call 111 even though I've just literally been to the GP. PID after chlamydia

Well, nurse practitioner at my GP surgery.

I have all the symptoms of PID after a chlamydia infection earlier this year from an unfaithful DP.

7-8/10 pelvic pain, bleeding even though I'm not in my period, green discharge, painful sex. Have vomited and had a fever earlier that has since gone down.

Everything I have read online says I need to be treated for PID before swabs have even come back. Possibly even with an antibiotic injection and two different types of oral antibiotics.

She has given me one antibiotic, to treat a UTI. There was blood and protein in my urine but I am bleeding vaginally so the sample will obviously be contaminated. She has requested an ultrasound scan and I will get a letter though the post.

I'm sure that a delay in treatment in PID can be the difference between fertility and infertility?

I don't know what to do! I could just be being ridiculous.

Did she swab you and how long did she say it would take to get the results?

I would bypass GPs completely tbh and find the local GUM clinic - they'll be much more 'on it' and from experience can test for a greater range of infections too

Sorry I should have included this in my post - I was in a rush.

I went to the GUM clinic three weeks ago and they did a full screen that was all clear. They said to see the GP because PID often doesn't show up on swabs.

So the nurse didn't swab me today.

Go to A&E, tell them about the pain. You should have been swabbed. Hope all goes well.

Merryoldgoat · 10/07/2023 17:30

A&E if I were you.

AmandaHoldensLips · 10/07/2023 17:34

That's bloody outrageous. Far too often women are dismissed, fobbed off, or not believed. You will probably have to stand your ground and refuse to be sent away. So sorry you're going through this.

SaltyCrisps · 10/07/2023 19:49

Totally agree with previous poster, and I hope you'll go to A&E, OP. Good luck with it.

I went to a&e for similar but I was told they "don't deal with gyne issues"

Supersu · 13/08/2023 18:07

Did you manage to get some help OP?

Herne · 19/10/2023 20:48

Hope your feeling better OP. I've been going through similar
