My sons school are pushing him out

My son has additional needs and his school have been pushing for him to be moved to a new school as we have just moved house (the last one was full of damp and mould) and we have struggled with transport. The one journey to school takes an hour and ten minutes then a further 30 minutes after for me to do the nursery run and then back again after dinner. This has been really hard for my son as he has even fallen asleep in assembly due to being so tired and struggling with sleep. We need to be out of the house by 7. 30am to make it on time to school. His attendance has dropped to 72 percent due to this and I’ve applied for school transport but because his ehcp has not been put in yet(school we’re holding off until the autumn term) we won’t get school transport. There are no school places in our area so I’m at a loss as to what to do

Is there a school WhatsApp group or notice board where you can ask if anyone travels the same direction time that you can pay for as you can’t get a taxi? Is your son okay to travel without you?
Sonyoure not picking on someone and being a CFer asking for free transport, but offering a decent amount that you are already spending on buses etc

I appealed for my catchment school after a house move because the LA said there were no places in any school.

A man came from the council, to the appeal, which worked in my favour really as the panel could see I was in a very difficult position as she had no school place.

You don't have to have an EHCP to qualify for school transport. Under the guidance, the maximum desired journey time for a primary aged child is 45 minutes each way, 75 for a child in secondary. If you don't qualify on distance criteria, you may well qualify on the basis of your child's difficulties combined with the difficulty of the journey.

You need to apply formally. for transport, ideally supporting the application with a doctor's letter explaining the problems for your son's health and well-being. If you have problems, contact SENTAS - https://sentas.co.uk/

It’s not that odd. Where I live a certain 20 minute car journey would take 2.5 hours using buses.
