Their nail colour? If it’s bright yellow or black or green? Etc

OP posts:
steppemum · 10/07/2023 09:35

no.
colour is just a bit of fun. Same as hair colour. Not permanent, just like wearing coloured clothes.
but huge fake nails make me shudder. I find them creepy.

I don't judge the person wearing them, each to their own, but I hate long fake nails.

and I find myself wondering how they do things with their hands with nails like that!

steppemum · 10/07/2023 09:38

I am envious of anyone who manages to keep finger nails painted and not chipped.

I paint my toe nails, but never btoher with fingers. It is just too hard to keep them in one peice!

Mabelface · 10/07/2023 09:53

I usually don't notice, apart from the passing thought of how someone manages to wipe their arse without shredding it when they're really long.

I really hate these drip feedy bollox posts.

Why are you asking - what is the real question you want to ask?

This.

I'm not proud but I would judge on some nails. Very long, square or those coffin ones, lots of awful nail art and crystals. I'd assume they'd call me hun.

Not nice and not fair I admit.

😂

GlitterSneakers · 10/07/2023 10:36

No. Quite the opposite, I love seeing bright or pretty colours on nails, I’m likely to compliment the colour if I like it.

I’d be a strange person if I judged someone for something as harmless as nail polish colour.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 10/07/2023 10:38

I just wonder how they manage to keep their nails looking so nice and if their secret is that they have someone doing all their house choirs for them.

I have mutiply peopel looking after my house choirs 😂😂

Pissedoffpigeon · 10/07/2023 12:26

I don’t really notice peoples nails unless they are impressively manicured, or really shabby looking I.e. lots of chipped nail polish. Even then I can’t say it’s more than a passing thought, i certainly don’t make any assumptions about their personality based on their nails.

ManateeFair · 10/07/2023 14:54

10HailMarys · 10/07/2023 08:21

The days when any deviation from pink, red or nude was considered unusual are long gone. It’s totally mainstream to have any of the colours you mentioned. I wouldn’t think anything of it.

Yes, exactly. It's hardly avant garde to wear green polish in 2023.

CapEBarra · 10/07/2023 14:58

I never notice nails unless they’re really far out and they’re constantly being waved in my face.

CoffeeCantata · 10/07/2023 15:59

Yes, defnitely!

I'm either unique on MN, or the only person honest enough to admit to being judgemental.

Of course pretty much every choice we make and choose to express in our clothes/make-up etc is telling people who we are. Doesn't mean I'm nasty to anyone - but yes, their choices tell me a lot.

You wear bright unconventional colours? You must be confident and/or attention-seeking. Nothing wrong with that. I like wearing red and I'd admit to the attention-seeking bit.

dressedforcomfort · 10/07/2023 19:46

Couldn't give a shit about colour but uber-long, pointy, talon type nails freak me the hell out!

yipeeyiyay · 10/07/2023 20:43

I love it when I see a very professional looking or elegant woman who is relaxed and genuinely impressive in many ways rock a mental nail. Just love it.

DerekFaker · 10/07/2023 20:44

I couldn't care less what other people's nails look like, unless they're dirty.

RobinHumphries · 10/07/2023 20:46

I assume that they aren’t dental clinicians/ dental nurses…..

Because it’s hard to sing with nice nails? 😉

Gel nails don’t chip and I garden and do DIY in them. Not long though. No idea how people can do much at all with long acrylics.

slithytoveisascientist · 11/07/2023 02:23

Shodan · 10/07/2023 08:30

I assume anyone with painted nails (on a daily basis, not for special occasions) is a) not as clumsy as me b) doesn't spend as much of their time doing DIY or drain unclogging (other unpleasant chores are available) as me and c) has far more patience than me.

Other than that, no assumptions made 😁

You need builder gel, im clumsy and use my hands lots and this makes my nails so strong, way better than naked or nail polish

Brightandshining · 11/07/2023 02:32

No.
And I love fake nails. I think they are fun. I get acrylics but only short rounded ones due to my job... I love the super crazy ones on people though. Right now mine are plain lilac.
I'd not judge anyone for having plain nails either. I don't think anyone's nails mean anything about them as a person at all. Occasionally I might have plain nails.. so you wouldn't be able to tell I loved the fake ones. How can you tell much of anything about anyone from a style choice they made once? Particularly when nails take time energy and money... someone might love to have embellished bright nails but just not have the resources... you can't really tell anything about someone by their nails

DoughnutDreams · 11/07/2023 02:39

I saw a clip recently where someone was talking about having to wear green nails for ten months as she was an understudy for Elphaba on Broadway.
We're not all in Wicked but it's an opportunity to remember we don't know what anyone's circumstances are, or reason for doing anything.
Stop judging people who aren't doing you harm.
