fed up of corporate time thieving, I need that time - give it back!

I am increasingly frustrated by the theft of my time by utter nonsense. Search engines are becoming increasingly stupid at answering basic questions, online shopping is a marathon of an engagement to fulfil a list of specific items with a price scale and even going into the bank recently to get cash meant an extra five minutes being lectured on the age of my account in an effort to upsell me one that costs me money.

I feel like I need to start invoicing for my time every company that does this. AIBU?

I already vote with my feet but post pandemic every direct route from needing a thing to procuring a thing seems to have vanished entirely.

I've spent an hour on hold trying to get through to the repairs service for my home. Then 45 minutes on hold to my doctors to find out why they are kicking me off their list. That was just today, I added up the other day how much time I spend on the phone each week to places I have to phone instead of talking to people for pleasure, it averages out at 6 hours a week, that is 6 hours I will never get back.

Posters on MN moaning about advertising etc seem to expect everything for ‘free’ - the people who work on the sites need paying! Posters are always complaining about advertising or how they are expected to upsell on dating sites for example -why on earth do they think funds these businesses?
The worst for pointless time wasting are HMRC/NS&I and especially NHS - took me hours to make a doctors appointment via their two apps and website. At least the commercial organisations have an interest in efficiency which the public sector ones definitely don't.
And there has been as noticeable decline in phone waiting times since public sector staff are now allowed to work from home.
