DH looking for stuff

Does anyone else have a DH who can't see things right in front of him? I'm not having too much of a whinge as he does his share but stuff just becomes invisible in front of him.
E.g 1 he was cooking curry and usually puts in some frozen spinach. Started moaning there was none in the freezer. I was sure there was, opened the veg drawer and there it was on top.
E.g. 2 I did the supermarket shop this morning. Put the ham on the usual shelf in the fridge. Same ham I usually buy, no packaging change. He went to make a sandwich 20 minutes later and asked why I hadn't got any ham there was no ham. I opened the fridge and there it was, right at the front.

I think this is a developmental phase people go through as teenagers

Yes!

I have learned that the best response to a ‘where’s the…’ or a ‘there isn’t any…’ is to ignore. Be completely engrossed in what you are doing. They do then find said thing all by themselves. It just takes time. Or just say ‘it’s in…’ or ‘yes, there is …’ and leave him to it. He will find it. But the whole getting up and looking for him (and DS) just started to annoy me - interrupts what I’m doing.

Oh. And I’m teaching my DS. Look with your brain, look with your eyes, look with your hands. Then, if you still can’t find it, look with your mouth.

I've found "look with your hands" useful, if they actually touch stuff, pick stuff up and move it they can suddenly see it

He's ended up cooking rather dom wierd meals before when he'sbeen convinced a key ingredient for the planned meal I missing.

Just doesn't seem to work with him. I'm convinced there must be a key neurological link missing.
