To think we aren't saving enough...

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 DCs one at uni one at home. We bring home £100k per year so approx £6k a month so I know we are much better off than many.
By the time we pay mortgage, cars, bills and food I don't know where it all goes every month. We save about £500 every month but I always feel we should be saving more but just don't know how we could. I'm scared about the cost of living and I know I am far from destitute.
What do you all manage to put away every month??

I’ve started using HyperJar and a method whereby you assign every penny of your wages every month.

bills are first to be paid and non negotiable, then we allocate money to HyperJar jars for things we must pay but we save a bit each month towards them to help with budgeting eg: house insurance, car tax, kids Xmas, kids birthdays, kids clothes, saving for holiday, food shopping etc

once we have our essential spend assigned we then look at what’s left and basically it’s a combination of ‘fun money’ and unplanned spend vs savings.

it might help if you look at what you must pay, then see realistically what is left and how you want to spend/invest the rest

@Mermaid27 we do similar, but with Chase which gives 3.8% interest for the pots (savings accounts essentially).

Depends on how much your bills are. You could benefit from taking a detailed look at your bank statements over the last few months to see if there's much unnecessary spending or not.

We earn about 2/3 of your income and save at least £500 per month but don't have kids, although we aren't exactly cutting spending to the bone to do this.

Thanks @princesslouloubananahammock , depending on how much we spend we could think about putting on a 0% cc, good plan.
