I always - no idea why- look at certain items for sale as properly suspicious...

like every adult bike for sale, I think "I bet that's been nicked"

or brand new clothes, with tags? ... stolen, surely? because otherwise they'd just return them with the receipt or try for an exchange?

disclaimer, IKIABU

I always wonder about the brand new with tags items, just take them back?

It's weird. Especially if they're "this season" - Kind of get it if you'd bought it 2 years ago and never got round to wearing them.

It always possible! I sold two girls dresses with tags lately which I bought two years ago and forgot she had! They're now two small. I doubt the shop will accept them two years later 🙄🙄🙄

*Not

With bikes ask for a photo of the frame number, you can then check whether it's been reported stolen.

I sold ‘new with tags’ clothes that I ordered online and missed the return window for.

RoyKentFanclub · 06/07/2023 11:35

I’m the queen of ordering stuff and then waiting a week too long to return it so I’m not sure that’s necessarily suspicious

It's healthy to be suspicious!

In fact, if everyone took a leaf out of your book and at least thought before they bought, then there would be fewer people ripped off, fewer scammers etc...

I like FB groups that sell branded clothes second hand, but get suspicious of people who post saying they have loads of dresses size 12 to 18. Why would you have that many sizes and so many clothes?!? Do these people trawl through charity shops to sell them online?! Which would therefore make them a business!

It's when they don't want you to come to their address to view something either, and want to meet at a pub carpark. I'm then thinking what are they hiding, particularly if it is an item that is known for being stolen e.g. bikes, phones...

that's just annoying when people are clearly running businesses through FB marketplace - they've got a job lot of outlet/near perfect clothes and try and sell them through there. - will make it all useless and turn into Ebay which is now just mostly businesses selling stuff, instead of people.

Si suspect Vinted will be the next actual people selling actual items as FB MP becomes more businessey
