To let brunette DD13 bleach/colour ends of her hair for summer

Dd13 has lovely dark brown, very fine hair. She has been on about dying it a bright colour for ages. I'm a natural blonde and have zero clue but gather that it is a harsh treatment and not usually recommended for under 16s

She understands and has suggested a compromise by way of her having the bottom few inches bleached and dyed, it's due a cut anyway, needs a few inches off.

I think it's unlikely a salon will do it and I am not that sure if I should do it, or where to start in terms of strong enough bleach to lift her colour.

Yabu: you'll ruin her hair

Yanbu: it's harmless fun, that bit is getting cut off anyway, here are some tips for you...

Are you sure that there isn't a hairdresser who would? We have an amazing one near us (in australia so no use to you) who does children from the age of 8 with amazing rainbow styles, because why the hell not. He gets a lot of flack for dyeing young kids, but it's hair. And he's doing it as 'safely' and professionally as it can be done. I'm all for it!

My hairdresser did my daughters ends, when she was 13.

He confirmed if it was ok to do it with the owner, but because it was the ends of her (very long) hair, and bleach would not be anywhere near the scalp, they were happy to go ahead with it.

London based salon. You could check with your local salons.

I've never heard of a salon turning away a customer for bleach because they are under 16. OP I would try taking her somewhere first to avoid blocky lines.

I would allow it and take her to a hairdressers for it to be done. Just the ends sounds ok to me.

Me neither. My DD's best friend had hers done at the end of year six when she was eleven.

I have done dds the last couple of years but she's blonde so we haven't needed to bleach.

I would bleach though because it's just the ends and the deal is we leave her hair cut til the end of the summer and so it's coming off anyway.

We use manic panic. Pink usually, have used rose gold which was quite poor.

At least it's not sun-in or shaders and toners. My mum still reminds me of the summer I went patchy ginger instead of blond streaks.......
