To apply again for a credit union loan

Hello, I used to have regular loans with my local credit union, unfortunately I got into a lot of debt over the years over 20k worth. I buried my head in the sand for a long time, avoided the door etc but always paid credit union straight from my sons child benefit.
Anyway I contacted step change to address the issues I was having and they advised a debt relief order which the court granted me.

The debt relief order was last may so it's over now, however credit union loan was included as part or the order. Would it be unreasonable of me to try and reopen an account with them to apply for a small loan?
I am a full time carer for my son with autism and we really need some days out this summer holidays so the money will be for that.

I think they would turn you down -they will keep your details on file for 6 years and the DRO will be on your credit file for that long too

they will have it on file that your last loan was written off

Thank you

Speak to them, explain the situation.

There's plenty of things to do that don't cost. I would never get a loan for days out but thats just my opinion.

Put what would be repayments into a savings jar and when you have enough go out. You don't want to start all the debt again. Find things to do at no cost or very low cost until you have some saved. If you do a bit of research you will find activities at no or very little cost. Don't limit your choices, do anything that is age appropriate and free even if you hadn't considered it before. There's some great things to do in every community in the summertime for free.

If you have a disabled son you can look up places such as Merlin or the Family fund to help with days out or even a holiday. A friend had help from several charities in your situation.
