To think this is LFT is positive?

Posting here for traffic

I’ve been really sick again for the last 2.5 weeks. I had Covid in early April and it took me literally 6 weeks to start feeling a bit better. I’m really really run down and stressed so I know my immune system isn’t very good.

I took this test a couple days ago as all the symptoms have been the same as Covid. But I’m in actual disbelief that I’ve caught it again so soon and it’s still as vile as the first and second times I’ve had it. My LO and DM have been unwell as well with similar symptoms but lasting way less time cause my immune system isn’t very good.

It’s in black and white to make it easier to see

To think this is LFT is positive?

This is an unedited one. Not that it matters. Cause I am probably seeing things.

There’s a line on the unedited picture

mindutopia · 03/07/2023 11:02

Personally, I would do another test. If you haven't edited that 2nd photo at all, it looks a bit funny due to the dye run (it shouldn't have that much). Just do another one if you want a more conclusive answer.

I'm like you, OP, I do like to know if I have COVID. I'm not remotely anxious or worried about it. It's just I'd like to know. If there was a test for me to find out what sort of whatever virus I had when I had a cold, I'd take that too. Purely out of interest.

Tippexy · 03/07/2023 11:07

There is an obvious line and any line is a positive result.

I guess now we know how it spread so rapidly given some posters’ inability to identify a positive test!

The second line is pink and faint, but it is there. You have Covid.

Cloxs · 03/07/2023 11:12

Yeah agree about the dye. It’s the same as one I did previously which didn’t have the dye run - but I’m out of LFTs now.

I also test cause I work for the NHS and we are advised to do so. Although not compulsory anymore.

None of the unedited picture looks pink to me. It's black ?

Do you mean the dye in general? Yeah these LFT are very dark purple rather than pink. Think it’s the brand.

That’s kind of unnecessary if it was aimed at me. I just wanted clarification

I have isolated since I got sick. So I’m not spreading it anywhere...

You’re doing the right thing by coming on and checking. What I meant was the many posters who are adamant that a positive test is negative. It kinda explains a lot!

Mutabiliss · 03/07/2023 11:44

It's a very faint positive, which could possibly still be virus showing up from your previous infection - Covid can take a really long time to clear the system. It could be a reinfection - after 2.5 weeks you wouldn't normally test positive anyway. I know someone who caught Covid three weeks after having it (assumed to be Delta and then Omicron, at the time).

I hope you feel better soon. Covid seems to demand rest, it really takes it out of you.

Mutabiliss · 03/07/2023 11:47

And yes, like you and mindutopia, I like to know if I have Covid. It's interesting! I would test for other relatively serious illnesses like flu and noro, if there were tests available. That's not to say I'm testing every sniffle, or worrying at all. Just like to know.

Ah sorry, thanks - seems a few people think I’m clearly being ridiculous. Glad you understand my stance.

Thanks for your response. I think it’s either reinfection (leaning more towards as have all the same symptoms and LO and mum have been really unwell except it’s hit me harder for a lot longer), or a ‘relapse’ in long Covid type stuff. Either way I guess I’ll never know - think that there’s an element of being reassured if it’s new albeit it being totally crap - cause I got over it last time.

Shouldn't those things be in a museum by now?
Get well soon OP. Don't stress about WHAT the illness is, just get well right?

Many people still have vulnerable friends or family, so no they shouldn't be in a museum. I know people say that you should take precautions for any illness but there are some who could be more impacted by covid than a standard cold so want to know. If I had a cold I would just not get too close to my partner but I would isolate in a room if I had covid.

Agree 100% - I’d class myself as vulnerable as I’ve got pre existing conditions. I’ve had a lot of illnesses in my life but none has hit me as hard as COVID so for me it makes the world of difference. It’s great for some who get off lightly asymptomatic or feeling shit for 2-4 days. But I’m not one of those people. Although apparently LFT aren’t working much anymore even in + people due to the way it evolves. But in some people, it really isn’t as mild as it’s made out to be - despite its evolution. I wish I wasn’t so affected by it, but it seems to be an Achilles heel for me.

Not everybody has the option of isolating with Covid ,many workplaces still.expect people in with Covid as do.many schools .

Yes thats a positive. I would say you are st the end of it though after two weeks.

I had Covid in Feb, quite mildly in the scheme of things but felt shit and knackered ever since. Every time I did a really long day, the next day my glands would come up and I’d feel pole-axed with exhaustion. I’ve only just started to feel better in the last month. However I’m not sure it’s completely left my system yet.

In short: I don’t think this is reinfection I think it’s just hanging around from April.

Sorry to hear. Did you feel really spacey and like a blanket was covering your brain? I’m doing the absolute bare minimum (working part time from home, however in quite a cognitively demanding role) but I’m still not good. I feel really bad depersonalisation and derealisation which had lifted but it has come back full force. I’m at 3 weeks today post this second whatever it is / infection/ relapse. I’ve already missed so much time with my daughter. I hate this.

Yes exactly - spaced out, cotton wool in my head, can’t remember words etc.
