A neighbour of mine has two children, Both quite young (I think the eldest is 5/6) who has been having a lot of parties in her house. There's been lots of very drunk men arriving and lots of shouting and smoking out the windows all through the night.
I have heard the children crying through the night for hours and sometimes heard my neighbour telling them off for it, otherwise it seems like they're being left to cry and everyone continues drinking and shouting.

I'm very worried about the children as the men are never sober and it must be scary for the children always having all that noise and strangers in their home.

Am I being unreasonable?

I'm also worried about it getting back to them that it's me that has contacted anyone as I'm a single mother myself with a young child.

It would have made more sense to contact the police while the parties were going on to be honest…

Please do OP Sad

NameChange245 · 02/07/2023 08:21

Call social services and nspcc. Next time, call the police OP 😢

fourandnomore · 02/07/2023 08:22

Definitely contact them and yes, next time contact the police while it’s happening.

alloutofluck · 02/07/2023 08:23

I agree that you should call the police when the parties are happening.

MintJulia · 02/07/2023 08:23

If in doubt, report it.

Social services or the police will look into it. You don't need to give your name if you are that worried about repercussions.

nnamechangee · 02/07/2023 08:24

Op the best thing to do is wait until they are in the middle of a party/ drinking session and call the police. Unless you are even more concerned before this. The police will arrive immediately and will be able to view and evidence the scene. They will then refer to social services or call social services immediately.

As a social worker this is the best option for proof and to get this stopped now.

Dollmeup · 02/07/2023 08:25

Best option is to call the police while it's happening, they will turn up and see the situation for themselves.

Babsexxx · 02/07/2023 08:25

Why didn’t you contact the police? This is a far cry from having a placid wine and a bbq in the garden this is just awful op! Those kids must be absolutely petrified!! I doubt there was one sober person in that house how bludy terrifying for them!

These kids can’t advocate correctly for themselves so it’s down to other adults knowing the situation and seeing it to report these things!

Quitelikeit · 02/07/2023 08:37

Please please call the police the next time this happens

reelcat · 02/07/2023 09:37

I agree with advice. Inform social services and school if known but then call police everytime as it will help services build a bigger picture and children are more likely to get the help they need.

towriteyoumustlive · 02/07/2023 09:39

I'd be contacting your local safeguarding team immediately and logging this.

Poor kids.
