Is it unreasonable to think that first time buyers don't stand a chance? £100k for this???

The housing market is just nutty... https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/133923353?fbclid=IwAR0SODUwef2m54iQ-RTPEFLvJrzpx0UZtYTUn8h6UbY6IeL5JcTduRYv63c#/?channel=RES_BUY

Comments on the local online newspaper question whether that's a person in pic 7?!

I feel desperately sorry for the previous inhabitant(s) but £100k for all that clearance and renovation?! How can anyone buy houses if this is the cheapest (and only) option in the area.

Check out this 4 bedroom detached bungalow for sale on Rightmove

It's a 4 bed house, pretty good for that price in a popular location but as others have said developers will buy it more than likely.

At first glance, it looks like an elderly person with their head in their hands.

It took me a while but I see it now, thats so creepy!

It's being auctioned, so there is no certainty it will sell for £100k - might be more, or less. It's a plot of land with the bonus that planning permission would be easy to get as there's an existing house there. Looking at the construction and the state of what you can see of the house, it's only fit for pulling down. Very sad and I hope it sells for enough to get the current occupant(s) somewhere to live where they'll get the support they need.

Dramatic much?

There are over a dozen perfectly decent livable properties on the market within 40 miles of this specific property you link to, between £100k-£110k

And a couple both working full time and earning £20k each can borrow £140k so with a 10% deposit can be considering offers around £150k which gives a huge number of options if you aren't tied to one of the big cities where prices are higher.

The property you link to is obviously in a terrible state but with a £100k asking price that probably means that it would be worth £300k once all the work is done - it's a 4 bed, hardly a starter home. No one is going to be forced to buy it.

Picture 7 is weird. It definitely looks like an old man sitting / slumped 😳 how bizarre.

The human brain is wired to spot human-like forms in random patterns. It's a survival trait that helps us to detect ambush-traps. It's more likely that the white shape that looks like an arm and torso is just a pillow or duvet, and the out-of-focus flesh-coloured lump is some kind of ornament on the window sill.

Like other said, £100k is not for the house, that’s for the plot. Which seems reasonable for a plot that size which comes with development opportunity.

Nowvoyager99 · 28/06/2023 09:00

I’m convinced that is an elderly man in photo 7. I can see his ear clearly!
