Does different weather affect your health?

For example today it’s been cloudy / muggy here and I’ve had a bad headache and low energy all day.. is anyone else the same feeling different depending on the weather?!

OP posts:
justasmalltownmum · 27/06/2023 19:36

Yes! Can't function properly in the heat.

Babsexxx · 27/06/2023 19:39

I’ve definitely got weather mood/depression I can’t handle cloudy days it doesn’t necessarily have to be boiling hot but my mood is a million times better with sunshine! I just can’t stand cloudy rainy drizzly horrible weather and I do get headachey and feel generally under the weather!

My husband is the exact opposite hates the heat loves dreary weather I just can’t cope with it! Xx

hattie43 · 27/06/2023 19:45

Yes the heat / muggyiness is giving me headaches and I never get headaches .

Pixiedust1234 · 27/06/2023 19:47

My body cant cope when the wind is very gusty (rather than a constant like a sea breeze) or extreme temperature fluctuations, ie hot for a week at 20C, then suddenly drop to 10C. I assume that's pressure related rather than the temperature itself. When I say it can't cope I mean bedbound in extreme pain. I also cannot function once temp reaches 30C+

Disclaimer, I have Fibro and Lupus.

CalistoNoSolo · 27/06/2023 19:48

Very high pressure gives me a headache and i get SAD in the depths of winter, but nothing apart from that. It's always a mood lifter when the weather changes though, no matter what it changes from and to 🙂

Nowvoyager99 · 27/06/2023 19:49

I have various joint issues and the warmer the weather, the less pain I am in, and therefore the happier I am.

DinosApple · 27/06/2023 19:54

I am very happy when the sun is shining, preferably warm but sunny winter days are glorious too.

We had a very muggy day last week and I noticed how exhausted the high humidity made me feel.
Cold makes me tense and uncomfortable.

Basically 25 and sunny is my ideal.

TrexTeeth · 27/06/2023 19:59

Humidity makes me exhausted and headachy

EmmaPaella · 27/06/2023 20:02

Yes! Feel exhausted today. And it’s not even that warm so I am guessing it is the humidity. I really struggle with cold weather and get really fucked off that our humid summers make me feel bad too.

nannynick · 27/06/2023 20:04

I noticed today the children were scratching their skin more than usual. So I do wonder if the higher humidity played a part in that. Tiredness, irritability, both seem worse at the moment, probably due to disturbed sleep. High humidity means you don't notice the sweat, so you may not drink as much as is needed. That in turn could have an affect on cognitive function.

I prefer the winter to the summer but I expect we all have our weather preferences.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 27/06/2023 20:07

Same. Feel totally blergh in this low cloud/muggy head. Headache, aching joints, brain fog.

GeneHuntsCowboyBoots · 27/06/2023 20:08

Heat makes me so ill. I have ME and Fibro and anything over about 20 degrees makes me absolutely drained, headachey and nauseous.

ValBiro · 27/06/2023 20:09

Today and yesterday I had a banging headache building through to the afternoon and had to nap after work, which I never normally do. High pressure?

Monkeytennis97 · 27/06/2023 20:14

Cold and rainy = joint pain for me

Archeron · 27/06/2023 20:15

High air pressure makes my ears pop and gives me a migraine. I’ve been feeling fuzzy headed for a week because it’s been hovering around 1020hPa. Thankfully the air pressure has dropped a bit now and I don’t feel quite so bad. I also don’t like the sun, it’s not so much the heat but the brightness that bothers me.

weegiemum · 27/06/2023 21:43

Like a pp, the warmer it is the less neuropathic pain I have, so I love the warm sunny days. I also have depression and definitely feel better when it's sunny (so my choice to live in the west of Scotland is confusing!!).

GreenMarigold · 27/06/2023 21:49

Not really. I absolutely love the short dark days of winter and cannot help but be happy when it is all windy and rainy, although I also love extremes such as storms and snow and heat, but it doesn’t really affect me physically. Occasionally I might get a pressure headache just before a storm.

BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN · 27/06/2023 22:03

In hot humid weather I develop eczema on my toes and sometimes my feet swell up. I have to keep a fan on them to feel comfortable. Also I find I'm drained of energy and not up to tidying up/ household chores. I become very lethargic. I think I would feel better if house was fully air conditioned

Mercy1968 · 28/06/2023 00:15

I really suffer in the heat and humidity. Migraines, sweaty, tired and depressed. Just want to lie somewhere with a fan/air con on.
Winter I love. Feel energetic and get loads done. Love extreme weather like storms.
Never need the heating on in SE England (originally from NE Scotland).
Finland is my dream destination. Ds was there last summer and had 22c top temperature while I sweltered in 40c.

mrsfollowill · 28/06/2023 00:26

100% - my mum has COPD and on humid days can hardly breathe - it is a real problem for her and she has to take far more medication than she would normally. Sunny clear days give me (and mum!) so much energy- she can sort of function normally and drive herself to the supermarket for example and do a shop - bad days she has to sit on the sofa all day.
I think hayfever has been a big problem for a lot this year- DH gets it every year always has- but this year adult DS and I have also developed it, I swear I've never had it it before this year and nor has DS aged 21 but we are taking tablets every day now or we are a sneezing/streaming wreck!

Notoironing · 28/06/2023 00:33

around this time of year i get extremely tired every time. Long days and warm and kids won’t go to bed
I also often get diarrhoea when it’s hot weather - weird

MoonlightMemories · 28/06/2023 02:05

Very much so for me, very hot weather causes me to have much more frequent migraines than usual, especially when the temperatures are a bit all over the place/sudden thunderstorms etc. It drains me of my energy and makes me want to sleep a lot more than usual, it also can play havoc with my IBS and really upsets it at times too.

I also have a condition that makes me prone to fainting, and not so much at home where I'm lying down a lot usually, but at work (on my feet most of the shift, so my blood ends up pooling in my legs/feet) it is often even hotter there inside so it exacerbates my symptoms even more and can make it very difficult for me to stay conscious at times, whilst dealing with whatever crazy things might be going on during my shift.

Also recovering from a chest infection at the moment and it's making it a bit harder for me to breathe at times, especially when it's incredibly humid and it feels like there's no air inside.

MrsMikeDrop · 28/06/2023 03:29

Scientifically proven. Why else do you think people from dreary, grey countries are such miserable sods ...

garlictwist · 28/06/2023 05:59

I feel alive and glorious in the heat. Yesterday was only 17 degrees and wet and I was shivering all day with a hot water bottle at my desk.

Girasoli · 28/06/2023 06:47

Yes - changes in air pressure/ and cloudy but bright days (a particular type of light) are migraine triggers for me.
