@sausage767

Blush whale is delicious as is seal meat (had it in the USA , legally caught, my friend is Native American)

I dont accept the hierarchy of species basically.

Choose not to eat meat, fine - but I find this good meats and bad meats hypocritical

How sentient are octopi? Do they know they exist? Do they know they're in a farm?

Octopuses are by far the most intelligent invertebrate. And we still know relatively little about them and how their intelligence has developed in such a short lived and solitary species. Fascinating creatures.

I bet you couldn't eat a whole baby though. Do you just go for an arm or a leg?

I agree with this, because most people won't admit that if they use a value like intelligence to choose between species, they will also use it to separate people.

But that doesn’t omit treating anything we eat in an humane fashion, which it also has to be said, almost always vastly improves the quality and nutritional value of the food itself.

We have a vested interest in letting animals live well before we dispatch them.

Ultimately, everyone who is non vegan accepts some hierarchy of species, or else we'd be happily subsisting on solyent green.

I think most people do accept a hierarchy of species, even if it is difficult to articulate what that judgement call is based on.

I believe most people, if told they must chose between killing a slug or a dog, will dispatch the slug.

Regardless, farming animals in constant pain and terror, for them then to have a horrendous death (as would be the case here) should surely be advocated against, whether one eats meat or not.
