To be disappointed I haven’t lost more weight

Start of May was just under 17 stone. I just weighed myself today and I’m 15.9. So barely a stone. I’ve gone from a size 20 to a size 16, I really thought I’d lost 2 or 3 stone.
I’ve been eating 1200 calories a day, often less, sometimes 1000. This month I’ve also been really making the effort to go for a long walk everyday, 4 or 5 miles, and I’ve started working out although I’m often too tired (I have a one year old and at the end of the day I’m just exhausted. I read for an hour then go to sleep at 8 or 9pm).
I just wonder whats the point trying so hard for so little results. Not that I’m going to stop.

This is a approximation but if they say there are 3500 cals needed to burn a pound.
To burn your 20 pounds you have burned 70 000 cals.

In 6 weeks, so 42 days you have been in deficit 1666 cals a day.

I think that's pretty good going.

This is the problem with unrealistic expectations from people lying about weight loss goals on here and other social media. You are basically at the absolute maximum weight loss rate there - you see claims on here of 2st a month but that isn't possible outside of controlled conditions with obese people and certainly not sustainable.

You have completely nailed it - you should be absolutely thrilled, keep it up you are doing brilliantly and clearly have the determination and tenacity to reach your goals

If you’re disappointed with these results then I’m worried for you with the rest of your weight loss journey. Losing weight is extremely hard. There are NO quick fixes and NO shortcuts for healthy sustainable weight loss. People are now jabbing themselves with that wonder weight loss drug because they want to lose as much weight as possible for as little effort. It doesn’t work like that. These people will end up gaining all the weight back.

1-2lb a Week is a healthy, sustainable weight loss. You’re setting yourself up for failure if you are expecting more.

This is a common feeling during weight loss, it’s frustration and you kind of lose all sense of time and normality because you are putting in a lot of work. I do understand I am the same I have lost 1st in 6/7 weeks but it’s not overly visible yet - I am the same size 16 dress size just now they actually are loose on me not crazy skin tight 🤣 I went from 15.6st to 14.5st but I won’t really see/feel it properly until I hit 13.7st from my previous weight loss this was when I felt a lot nicer and got into size 14’s. You will hit a nicer point when you feel better, keep going. It’s not a humble brag it’s so hard losing weight and still not feeling good about it, just give it time

I think you've done amazing OP!

It's taken me 5 months to loose 24lb. I average about 1.5lb loss a week, which is steady, slow and more likely to stay off. Especially as I've really concentrated on eating healthy, moving more and just generally living a more balanced, healthier and moderate life style. I've also worked hard to really look at my relationship with food.

Keep going OP, just think in another 6 weeks you could be 2 stone down in total, or there abouts.

Not every achievement also needs to be the scales. You've gone down 2 dress sizes! Keep going you are doing great.

Anything but. This is the fattest I’ve been in ten years! 😩

No it isn't.

Where you were 6 weeks ago might have been, but where you are today isn't.

Keep going, OP. Slow and steady. You're doing really well.

I agree, whenever I feel despondent about where I am, I remind myself where I was.

Keep going op.

Well done for keeping going.
Being overweight ruined my life.
Took me forever to change my lifestyle.
But I cannot put into words how much happier I am now.
Please don't give up, you won't regret it.

KnitMePurlMe · 24/06/2023 22:54

You’re not “enormous”, you’re a size 16 🙄. You’ve lost a stone and a half with relative ease. Just keep going.
