Neighbours cat

My neighbours have a female cat around 8 months old and they won’t get her neutered. They think it’s cruel and she should have one litter. Myself and other neighbours are not happy right now because the amount of male cats now hanging around fighting and marking their territory in our gardens. At night the noise of the cats is awful. This neighbour is a woman in her 60s who in the 10 years Iv lived here has had more cats than I can actually keep count because she thinks it’s cute to let them follow her to the shop across the main road so sadly many end up hit by cars the others end up running away. She also try’s to claim other cats owned by people in the street. I myself have a 12 year old male cat who’s been neutered from he was 6 months old who likes to lay in my garden in the sun but I can’t let him out now incase one of these males attacks him. A few neighbours have contacted a local animal rescue group and got told they do a trap neuter release system for stray cats and will arrange for it to happen in a few months. Most of us in this neighbourhood myself included are council tenants and a few neighbours want to contact the council about her. She had the cheek to tell myself and another neighbour who has dogs to keep the noise down because our dogs are barking during the day at these cats. Honestly the smell of cat pee in the back lane between the houses is awful now to the point I don’t want to hang washing out. She now started putting food out for the male cats so it’s definitely going to attract more. What none of us can understand is she doesn’t actually let the cat outside so how dose she think it’s going to get pregnant. One neighbour has said he’s going to speak to her today and give her the option to take the cat the be neutered or have most of the neighbours report her to the council. Is there anything any of us can actually do. I should add when she was asked about homes for any kittens she said shel advertise on Facebook that she’s sure they will get homes.

The council won't do anything. It's perfectly legal not to neuter your pets.

What would you report her to the council for, having one cat? I doubt they'll be interested. Constantly barking dogs are annoying, by the way.

She is insane. My current cat comes from a rescued litter of cats from someone who didn't get their cat spayed.
Lucky she got me, the rest were advertised in the local rag for £20 each. God knows where they ended up and who with.
My DS nabbed one and brought it round to my house knowing if I set eyes on her I wouldn't be able to say no.
There should be a law against people like this. So irresponsible.

Don't be so ridiculous. Of course you can't report her for having one uneutered cat. Also your post is ageist. What is the relevance of her being in her 60s? I volunteer at a cat rescue and most of our uneutered cats come from younger owners.
Having said that, I do wish that people would get their cats neutered at 6 months.

I don't understand how she's attracting all these male cats if she doesn't let her cat out?

My girl wasn't neutered for her first two years as she was a house cat to start with...no males were sniffing around.

OP says she's putting food out for them.

I am not necessarily anti people breeding dogs and cats, although I have always had mine spayed and neutered. Years ago I lived next to a woman like this - it was ok while her husband was there but it very quickly got out of control, and then the neighbour downstairs from me and behind me started feeding them. In a few months there were cats everywhere, the smell of pee was overwhelming and there were daily fights and cats dying after them. One day I came down to find a cat eating a kitten on my door mat. In the end the authorities had to get involved - I guess my point is that it can get out of control very quickly. Its the feeding that is the problem, more than anything else.
