Summer clothes when loosing weight

Hey

I guess my aibu is whether it's worth spending out or not.

I am currently loosing weight through slimming world. Its going slowly but surely about 1.5lbs a week on average only just over half a stone so far but I've done it before and I know I can keep going at this pace.

So what do I do about summer clothes? Any tips on how to look nice but also not be spending a fortune on allsorts of bits. Any staples others have sworn by until they get to their target weight?

Dresses which have tie in the middle and floaty sleeves . They can go with you quite a few sizes. Also wide trousers.

It sounds like you are really motivated!

For many years I bought cheap rubbish clothes cos I didn't plan on staying in them for long but i think it affected my confidence. I eat due to stress and sometimes end up binge eating when trying to lose cos I get so nervous. I know it makes no sense. Or if I see myself looking huge in a mirror I will get an overwhelming compulsion to eat, if I look and feel good those feeling are less. So, now I invest in whatever size I am. Good quality stuff but a small number of items washed and reworn all the time so as not to spend a fortune. Fitted trousers may only last a few weeks. That might be of no help to you but that's what keeps me motivated.

Well done you! Massive achievement... Get yourself on vinted and get some shift dresses which are lose and very forgiving on all figures. Keep going!

This is a great idea. There are lots of options out there for things which can be adjusted as you go down in size!

Definitely get yourself some items you feel good in, it will help you on your journey in the long run! 💕

Tunics and tops in fabrics that drape really well, because you can wear those as you drop down a number of sizes. And even when too big, can be repurposed as beach cover ups.

Thinks like shorts, get a basic shape, start off with what fits now and hold them in with a belt as they get looser.

Second hand shops can be really good for dresses. Supermarkets generally if you don't want to spend too much (Asda and Sainsbury's are good for cropped jeans, loose-fit (wafty?) trousers and shorts

Smock dresses.

I had a smock dress at size 16, the dress being size 16 itself, that that still looked kinda cool at a size 6 with leggings, and to this day I wear back up at a size 12/14 (yeah, I've been all over the place)!

Granted, only in the garden or travelling now, since it's freying a bit after having it years... lovely big hole over the chest too where the cat caught it's claw. Heh. Forever my favourite dress.

i know exactly what you mean!! i've lost 2.5 stones this year and still have another 2 stones to go.
my clothes are all the same - giant shapeless tops over trousers.
i went shopping today because i'm going to a nice event next week but was trying on the exact same giant shapelesstops just 2,sizes smaller!!
Think i need to lose more weight then get a personal shopper!!!

Thank you all for your advice I will go shopping in a couple of weeks and go for it! Yes I'm motivated, had a terrible few years and all the weight I lost piled on and more so now I'm super determined to never let that happen again.

I'm actually excited about the shopping trip I hope I can find what I look half decent in and if not then maybe vinted will work!
