To think that children like sliding as much as bouncing?

Trying to decide on a bouncy castle to get for three DCs, all under four currently but hoping it will have some longevity.

I think that we should get one with a smaller bouncing area (156x165 cm) that also has a big inflatable slide attached.

DH thinks they won't be bothered about a slide and need maximum bouncing space (195x200cm) so they don't crash into each other.

Both say they are suitable for 3 DC and up to ten years old.

YABU - DH is right, get the one for pure bouncing
YANBU - you are right, get the one with a slide

Wait, is this a permanent bouncy castle in your garden?

SittinOnTheDock · 22/06/2023 15:14

No, you can turn it off and put it away. I'm buying it for a birthday party and will then have it up for an hour or so at the weekend when it's nice weather and we're not doing other stuff.

Kids prefer slides

uniresearch2023 · 22/06/2023 15:20

Definitely get one with a slide. Bouncy castles are only fun the first time.

SirenSays · 22/06/2023 15:25

In my experience a slide is good for little ones but At 10 YO it has to be a pretty big slide to keep them entertained whereas more room to bounce means they can do little flips and tricks.

God, neither. Absolute deathtrap.

PuttingDownRoots · 22/06/2023 15:27

How tall is the slide?

efeslight · 22/06/2023 15:30

Have you considered a swing?
That and a trampoline was most used in our garden

YoucancallmeKAREN · 22/06/2023 15:30

How close is A & E ?

WolfFoxHare · 22/06/2023 15:33

We have a small one with an inflatable slide and an inflatable paddling pool. DC never really use the slide.

How tall is the slide?

140 cm tall, 225cm long

Id get the slide. A family member bought a 17ft inflatable slide (like the one you see at fairs) nearly 15 years ago and its still going strong, the bottom of the slide can be just to bounce but thats only used for the little ones, the older ones (including adults) love the slide.

Got a swing.

From what I've read, trampolines aren't recommend until six years old, and safety advice suggests a bouncy castle is safer (obviously not used on windy days and secured properly).

I think as long as there's enough bouncing room for all of them, a slide would be pretty cool. We just have a normal slide and trampoline, but DD1 uses both a lot, sometimes just for her roleplay games (so dinosaurs go down the slide, oir she has a tea party on the trampoline, etc.). Your kids will love it!

Oh don't worry, I'm sure she was planning on wrapping her children up in bubble wrap first.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/06/2023 15:44

On hot days Gdcs and friends used to love the end of their plastic garden slide put in the end of a rectangular paddling pool. Best fun ever.

LakeTiticaca · 22/06/2023 16:15

Definitely a slide. I volunteered at a children's holiday club years ago and they hired a huge one for a day. All the grown ups got to go on it as well and it was absolutely awesome. The kids talked about it for weeks afterwards

TheKeatingFive · 22/06/2023 16:17

I'd go for the slide

SittinOnTheDock · 23/06/2023 14:32

Thanks for the replies so far. Think I'm going to order later today but still dithering over the final decision!

I'd definitely go for the slide.

It's much easier to avoid arguments because they can easily take turns. The bouncing leaves too much scope for not leaving each other enough room/banging heads/arguing over space/the youngest one being bounced on by older ones etc. Etc. I think it'll be a nightmare in practise.

cocksstrideintheevening · 23/06/2023 14:49

Slide.

SittinOnTheDock · 23/06/2023 16:06

I've ordered the slide one!
