AIBU to be annoyed by this?

Dr wanted 24 hour blood pressure check done so I took the afternoon as holiday from work, had an ECG then fitted with monitor. They're supposed to take your blood pressure every 30 mins or so. After about 90 minutes nothing had happened so I called Drs but nurse said it was OK. Went back today and download shows nothing, it hadn't been working all the time I wore it.
Now I have to do this again next week and I'm just a bit brassed off. I told them it wasn't working but they didn't believe me, AIBU to say I told you so?

I can see why it's a bit irritating, but honestly I can imagine they may have a lot on their plates. I would give them a break and just get on with doing it again. And sorry if this seems unkind - I have no idea what situation you are in. I just know a few people working in the NHS and it really is a very hard time for many of them (in spite of what some nasty "news"papers would have you believe).

I sympathise as it's bloody annoying having a 24 hour monitor. That tight arm feeling grates!!

However, having the arsehole about it won't change anything, so YABU, move on.

(And hope all is ok medically)

Very annoying. Can't you do the test on a day you don't work?

Daleksatemyshed · 21/06/2023 18:30

Yes, you're both right, they do have a lot on their plates and I am going to have to do this again. I think I'm more annoyed because I called them to say it's not working and didn't get taken seriously, you don't need medical training to know if a bood pressure monitor works or not😂

Haha I agree but don't let it put your BP even higher :)

@CC4712 you have to wear it for 24 hours and take it back the next day, I only have one non working day in the week

Surely you need to be taking the blood pressure readings on a “normal” day - ie one when you are at work. Otherwise it might be a false reading.
Why can’t you wear it at work?

Needmorelego · 21/06/2023 18:36

I mean if you are working 6 days a week no wonder you possibly have high blood pressure.

Cant you wear it during the work day then?

Needmorelego · 21/06/2023 18:38

Obviously if you are a firefighter or something I can understand why you can’t wear it at work….

Daleksatemyshed · 21/06/2023 18:41

@Needmorelego , sorry I only work four days a week but obviously it needs to be a midweek day to return the monitor. The monitors keep going day and night so they wake you up at regular intervals, it's not easy to go to work on no sleep, I do an office job that needs accuracy

@Daleksatemyshed ok that makes sense. I had a 24 hour heart monitor thing and they wanted me to do it on a most “normal” day as possible. Blood pressure tests aren’t the nicest thing - all that squishing of the arm (I have high blood pressure so have done a lot of tests).
Whatever you are being tested for I hope it goes ok 💐

Daleksatemyshed · 21/06/2023 19:01

Thank you @Needmorelego , this is my last chance to prove I don't need pills for my blood pressure! I'll take them if really necessary but only then.

These things happen to me ALL the time. Last month, for example, I had 2 appointments cancelled either on the day or the night before.

Really annoyed me. Had to take time off of work and money is a tad tight. I look back and feel for the NHS and shrug it off. I do get a little heated and short tempered when annoyed 😂

I'm now attempting to rearrange all of my appointments on days off just in case.

Daleksatemyshed · 21/06/2023 19:33

@NuclearPorridge that's exactly how I feel, you know the NHS is having a bad time and you feel for them but then it goes wrong and they waste your time and it riles you. They wanted me to try again tomorrow but that would mean being 2 and a half hours late to work and leaving 3 hours early on Friday.Trying again next week
