Professional Cleaners just too slow??

I'm struggling to keep my home clean since having my baby so decided to hire a cleaner. I live in a small terraced house. It has 3 bedrooms, one reception room, one small bathroom. I requested a 3 hour clean and asked for the entire house (except the one box bedroom as it's my partners office) to be dusted, hoovered, mopped and for the bathroom to be cleaned. I can't usually do this clean in 2 hours so thought 3 hours would allow a deepish clean.

I came home to find the upstairs had not been touched. No nice smell of bleach or cleaning products in the house. The bathroom was spotless to be fair and the kitchen and lounge were okay. The porch hadn't been touched either. I don't have lots of ornaments or surfaces to be dusted really.

AIBU to be disappointed with this service?

Yes I would expect the whole house to be cleaned in 3 hours. Do you know if they actually stayed for 3 hours?

Youknowaboutthepaint · 19/06/2023 19:12

It depends ds what it was like when they arrived. You say you've been struggling to keep on top of it?

I can give my whole house a "weekly clean" in 3 hours, but if it's been neglected for 2-3 weeks, doing a couple of rooms properly could take that long.

I just realised there's a typo in my original post!

I CAN usually do this clean in 2 hours.

No I have no way of knowing how long they stayed as I was out! 😣

The house was by no means filthy, we manage to hoover everyday and clean the sink/countertops everyday. I do the bathroom once a week.

I'd be disappointed too.

I had new cleaners start today. 4 hour clean. Previous cleaner used to take 3 hours. New cleaners managed to miss 2 rooms, very slap dash on the shower & didn't dust my daughter's shelves. I'm going to give them a couple more cleans but otherwise I'll be moving on. (My previous cleaner left to go into care work, or else I would have kept her!).

Maybe try someone else?

The best person I had was trained at a hotel. She could do a good job and had time to organise a cupboard or two. After she vanished off the face of the earth (I still owed her £20!) the next one was lovely, but untrained. She was very thorough and didn't stop moving but she couldn't do the whole house in the time or anything near it.
It is a bit trail and error. I'd give them feedback and another go. If not happy, try someone else.

My sister owns a cleaning company
the first clean she books for someone is always double the time the regular clean is going to be. So if you want 3 hours a fortnight she will book 6 for the first one. I can have my 3 story 4 bed 3 bath house cleaned in 4 hours so I don’t understand why you can’t have yours done in 3

You need to be there to see what's happening. They may have cleaned a lot and it my not look like much but skirting boards, high dusting etc all take time. Not something that needs to be done every time. If you want them to wipe things and make it look shiny, then tell them. They'll get through it quicker.
