Neighbour bonfires -garden waste

A neighbour has several largesacks full of garden waste (mostly felled evergreen trees).

They have occasionally had bonfires and this weekend they had two bonfires on Friday and Saturday nights both at 10:30pm - 12pm.

Very high flames and smoky - we had to close all windows and get pets in for safety.

I will ask them but it appears their plan is to get rid of it by bonfire over the weekends.

Is it reasonable to burn large volumes garden waste by bonfire over multiple nights without flagging to neighbours?

Report to the council.

I once had a colleague who was always having bonfires (his nickname was "Pyromaniac"). He came into work full of indignation about getting a warning letter from the council threatening him with prosecution under the Control of Pollution Act if he persisted.

He also got reported for starting building works when he had bats roosting in his loft.
