Dh started a new job on Monday.

He has been a pain in the arse to listen to ever since

XXX said this, XXX said that...

He got a uniform supplied...anyone would think he was a feckin chippendale the amount of posing he's doing. Not nice for a lardy 30 something bloke.

THEN he tells me about the first aid officer, she's blonde you know... then there's the brunette who measured his for his uniform..and when he tried it on I knew he had held in his stomach when she measured him as it strained across the chest

He starts in the middle of me talking.. "So, anyway, today we...." And I'm left there mid sentence seething at him & his own self importance!

Then last night he was talking about his job & how XXX said such & such again... I told him to shut up as he was boring me.. he said I was jealous.

Yeah, I am, he got that right!

He has got free lunches all week... cups of coffee & peace to drink them in, adult conversation..

I have had: 2 kids full of the cold, conjunctivitis, fighting with each other, refusing to let me put eye drops in, not eating, then eating stuff behind my back, bad stuff like krispie buns (under their bed!) AND to make matters worse... he went to work this morning (in his NEW car that I want!) he took my front door key with him (by mistake) so I'm stuck in the fuckin house to 2pm!

(she conveniently ignores the fact that she has nowhere to go today & had no plans for going outside the door....> point is, I might have had!

It's OK, IABU I will get over it

He has a uniform? Does he work behind the counter in McDs? [snigger]

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 10:47

He's working for a 'transport company'.

His mam offered him a beer last night & he said "Oh no, I'm not allowed to drink through the week"

So I had his & mine & the rest......

He has a female safety officer coming today to show him how to use a spade. This evenings installment should be good.

trouble is WOS - i do believe, and i have evidence, that you also downed a significant amount of rose!!!!

If it were me, id ask him to wear his uniform in bed tonight - then say to him, no sorry luv, can't take you seriously in that you look like the fat controller!

um what's so funny about working in McDonald's?

The novelty will surely wear off soon, and irritating as it is, surely it's good he seems very happy in his new job.

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 11:08

tmmj, it was all tongue in cheek.

His uniform is bright orange... he could wear it in bed & I wouldn't need a lamp on, we could save on electricity

And yeah, I'm happy he sounds happy in his new job... wouldn't you be happy to get 2 weeks paid training on how to lift a spade & how to put fires out?

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 22/02/2008 11:09

You should be happy for your DH - he obviously needed this change and is happy.

I'm with MMJ! I think you are very jealous and you are old enough to behave better than this!

WelliesAndPyjamas · 22/02/2008 11:11

Some spades are very complex, you know.

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 11:15

ooohhhh harsh words LRWG.... I am old enough to know better!!

But as I said, was all tongue in cheek.... We have a laugh about it.

He was self employed for ten years, under so much pressure, I am so damn glad he doesn't have the responsibilities now.

LEM, yes, there was rose consumed, far too much of it!!

Anyway he just text me, he now officially knows to bend his knees when lifting heavy things.. wow... considering he used to lift ten stone heads & sills it's a bit like teaching his granny to suck eggs

lucyellensmum · 22/02/2008 11:20

WOS - i think my dad used to work for the same people, on account of the orange uniform. If that is the case you will have to come to accept that soon your DH will be taking seven sugars in his tea and two tea bags

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 11:22

Luvverly lass!

He's working with the choo choos! Is that what your dad did?

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 22/02/2008 11:25

I think I may be in the same position as you soon Wall - DH has just got a major promotion at work!

lucyellensmum · 22/02/2008 11:25

yes it was he worked there all his life, never had a day off - my mother used to say that he thought the whole rail network would collapse without him!! But funnily enough, ever since he retired and they privatised everything............... well!

Blueskythinker · 22/02/2008 11:26

Please try to be nice.

Sounds like he's chuffed, and you (understandably, believe me, I know) are pissed off because life's a drudge.

Don't rain on his parade.

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 11:53

Ah but you see, for me, life's not a drudge.

I have a good life. I head off to uni 2 days a week studying a degree I love & want to get a job in. I will graduate in June.

My life will begin then.

and chances are that DH will tell me to shut up & stop boring him

OP posts:
branflake81 · 22/02/2008 11:57

You're being harsh. Poor bloke is cleary excited, you should support him and share his pleasure. My OH plays rugby on a Saturday and talks about nothing else from when the final whistle blows until about Monday morning but I think it's sweet. Enthusiasm is a good thing.

musicgirl · 22/02/2008 12:12

Lot's of holier than thou types on this thread WOS.

Whenever my partner starts going on how he is so popular at work and how his bosses love him, I start mentioning cute new guys who've started recently and how I'll make a big effort to make sure they feel welcome.

WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 12:20

branflake, i'm not being harsh.. I am being sarcastic.

I know he's fab. I married him!

Therefore I am allowed to be underenthusiastic and make sure he is able to talk about something other than himself sometimes.

Last night, in the middle of me talking to him, he laid our 6yr old on the floor & showed me how to recusitate her if she ever needed it... he conveniently forgot I'm the one of us who has the first aid training!

OP posts:
WallOfSilence · 22/02/2008 12:21

musicgirl, new cute guys. Will have to remember that

Pity they're all still in nappies at uni

OP posts:
bigbumhole · 25/02/2008 14:09

Rant away about it, you say you are jelous and its totally understandable.

I am jealous of DP and how he gets his own desk, 9hrs a day of peace and quiet, unlimited supply of tea, coffee and fancy biscuits, and endless hours of surfing the net while i am home alone with a demanding newborn and a hand full of a toddler (both delightfully nice all the same) and crave adult conversation to the point of insantiy.

Ironically, he is jealous of me and how i can hang out with the kids all day long.

So, yes in a nut shell you are being totally unreasonable, but at the same time, its OK to be

PotPourri · 25/02/2008 15:33

Haha. Your post made me giggle. I agree that the poor thing is just being over enthusiastic, but hey, that can get a bit wearing! So, rant away. You did answer your own question in the OP - are you being unreasonable.

bless, I think it sounds quite cute TBH
