Does ChatGPT advise people to behave like doormats?

I sometimes ask ChatGPT for advice. It has been trained up with so many webpages it sometimes comes out with very perceptive answers. I know it is better to ask mumsnetters than it is to ask a computer programme!

I was offended by someone who overreacted to something I said. I wanted to know if I was rude or if they were rude, so I ran the scenario past ChatGPT.

ChatGPT urged empathy towards the other person and said that I should be very understanding because they might have anxieties and problems that I don’t know about.

Of course, ChatGPT makes a valid point. But I think it risks encouraging users to be doormats who always bend over backwards to understand all other human beings. I have noticed that ChatGPT gives this kind of advice a lot.

Am I being unreasonable to think that software should NOT encourage empathy and open communication as it could put people in dangerous situations?

ChatGPT is not an AI. It's predictive text. It doesn't have insight. Don't rely on it for any real life advice.

one would assume it depends on the data sets that are used to programme the program that can influence the responses ?
