AIBU to drive to minor injuries?

Not really an AIBU but posting for traffic. I have an outpatients appointment at hospital tonight following a 111 call regarding a vein in my leg which has 'popped'. It's a large blue bruise, sore to touch, and swollen.

Anyone working in health care who can advise whether I should drive to the appointment or not, please?

The 111 have people that work in healthcare, the call handler presumably checked with a nurse/Dr and felt you needed to be seen, especially with pain/swelling. Maybe they want to check for DVT?

@ChocolateCoveredCookie

I thought the same as you, initially, then realised OP meant should they drive or taxi/get a lift, since it's their leg.

Good luck OP, hope all went well (presume it's over with now)

Do you have full use of the leg, could you execute an emergency stop if you needed to?

If not then you'll need someone to drive you as you won't be safe to drive.

It's also worth considering whether you'll be able to drive home if they have to do some kind of treatment on your leg, or if you have to leave your car in the hospital car park for an undefined time if you're admitted.

On balance I'd probably try to get a taxi or lift if you can.

Which leg is it? Is your car automatic?

ChocolateCoveredCookie · 17/06/2023 23:38

@pyjamalife 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sorry op.
I hope you got there okay and all is well.

Thanks for the replies, sorry if I wasn't clear. Yes, I meant should I drive myself there or get a lift. I got a lift to be on the safe side as it was my right leg so being able to brake was important! Turns out it's just a big bruise and they ruled out a clot or DVT.
