Received a photo from an unknown person and it's driving me mad!

A couple of weeks ago I received a photo (large, printed on canvas) though the post from Photobox.

There was nothing else inside and no indication of who is was from. I've spoken to all my friends and none of them have a clue about it.

Photobox aren't replying to my emails, but I don't think they'd be able to tell me anything anyway, would they?

The photo is of a random city that I've never been to. My name and address are correct on the packaging.

Wwyd?

It’s the opening scene of a thriller!

it’s the picture that was hanging on the wall when you broke up with your childhood boyfriend: his life spun out of control, dropped out of uni, addiction, crime, depression and eventually suicide.

his sister wanted revenge. You will soon keep bumping into a pretty, vivacious woman Oman who will befriend you. Be very careful - she will steal your husband, undermine you at work and make you out to be an unfit mother. Your life is about to spiral out of control ….. just like Stephen’s did.

Where is Stephen now? Is he fit? Asking for a friend ☺️

Are you expecting any parcels from anywhere that might be delivered by Evri? Because it sounds as if Evri have mixed up the shipping labels somewhere along the line.

Good idea! But I actually make a point of never using anywhere that uses Evri - I've had so many bad experiences with them in the past.

@Stripedbag101 You're not Oman, are you? 🧐

Could be worth looking into. Many sellers don't offer a choice or tell you which courier they'll be using. Or change it around. I've just had one delivery from Evri but the rest of the same order has been sent separately via RM.

Could be 'brushing.' Companies send their products to random names and addresses so they can then add a 'verified review' that's 5 stars. Positive online reviews are very valuable for businesses.

Chaoticserenity · 17/06/2023 18:55

Is it an attractive picture ? If you're getting no sense from Photobox or Evri then put it on EBay.

BertieBotts · 18/06/2023 07:37

Yes but Photobox wouldn't need to do brushing as they already are a known name.

My guess is that either you've used the site years ago and forgotten (maybe check through old emails for a login) or someone has sent you a card or photo gift at some point and so your name and address is on their system. Their computer system has glitched and mixed up your name and address with another user and so it's been sent to you in error. Especially if it's an old account with a lower account number and they have changed their systems at some point.

Can we see the picture? Then we might be able to deduct the hidden meaning?

CreateAUsername2024 · 11/03/2024 08:38

I had something similar(ish) where my partners nan tried to gift me something, didn't understand the website and accidentally sent me a stock photo example😂could it be something like that? Haha

You think that 9 months later anyone still gives a crap about this? Why?

pootlin · 11/03/2024 08:43

Have you ever ordered from Photobox before to this address?

I was thinking it might be an ex who took OP to a certain place in their youth and it meant a lot to him but presumably not her as she's far too glam obviously and he is looking back on his life wistfully...

Could it be a case of 'brushing', where a company gets a load of leaked data and uses it to send unordered lowish value items to people so they can boost their confirmed deliveries count on a shopping site. Happens with Amazon.

You wouldn’t need “leaked” data though, they could just take details from electoral roll or consented data.
