If you've always had an interest in the news, are you now switching off?

I've always wanted to know what's going on in the news and not fully understood people that say they don't watch or read it.

However, since covid I've been less and less inclined to read about the latest sleaze from politicians, a man killing or raping a woman, tragic stories about children and all the bad going on in the world.

I still check in briefly but much much less than before.

Anyone else previously quite interested in the news finding themselves switching off from it?

I'm usually a news junkie but the past weeks have mainly listed to Radio 3 which only has news headlines.

I absolutely cannot bear the sight nor sound of Trump fomenting insurrection, and now Johnson's acolytes trying to do the same here but with much less success. I don't mind the Tory party knocking spots off each other but I'm just sick to death of hearing the name Boris Johnson!

We haven’t watched the news for 2.5 years now, just fed up with the lack of journalism, just the same old mantras. Briefly switched to GB news as they said they were doing something different, no they are not, just the same as the others, without the professionalism of other stations. I doubt we will ever start watching the news again.

I still watch it just the same, only thing that made me dislike the news more is the changes the bbc have made earlier this year to their news channel

I used to watch the news everyday but since it all has to be so heavily filtered/ attempts to not offend anyone to the extent sheer bias is obvious I cba. I read various newspapers to try and pick out what I think has actually happened rather than what the press want to mislead you into believing but even then I can't fathom why some reports even bother.

Gave me watching the news 30 odd years ago.
It's all negative and I want to absorb that into my aura...so much better for my mental health.
But drama sells so it continues
There was once a radio station that only produced good news - it went out of business.,,,

Yes I used to have rolling news channels on all day in the background at home and didn't understand people who didn't want to know. It felt childish and ridiculous to me. But I now get the headlines I need from sm and seek out more information if it's relevant to me. I feel exhausted with bad news.

Until a year ago I'd watched the ten o clock news religiously before going to bed, since I was about 17. Plus scrolling etc.
Now I NEVER watch the news. I've switched from five live to radio 2 or Kisstory. I just can't bear it any more.
I used to be quite political and a paid up member of the Labour Party. Now I think there isn't a decent politician amongst the lot of them.

I used to have to watch the daily Covid briefing for my job but I do still check the news everyday, I think I’m just a bit more numb to what is being said. This week with Nottingham and also Germany did really make me angry though.
