To think there’s nothing to buy from Halfords?

Unless you’re into camping or cycling? I’ve got £300 in vouchers and there’s absolutely nothing I want from there. It really annoying as I’m really struggling financially at the moment too….

I can’t spend the vouchers on their tyres or MOT’s either!

Buy new car seats with it

Leftphalange100 · 16/06/2023 17:42

You're moaning because your insurance company gave you vouchers for a place to buy something specific? Honestly the entitlement is astonishing. Buy the car seats like you are supposed to.

Perfectly put

itslikethis · 16/06/2023 17:59

I second dashcams if you don't have them though I would probably have changed the car seats even though I feel bad about the amount of car seats there are.

Whaleandsnail6 · 16/06/2023 18:02

You really should buy new car seats. We were in an accident and there was no visible damage to the car seats but we got new ones through the car insurance.

Oblomov23 · 16/06/2023 18:05

I would've refused insurance company and asked for money into bank. Halfords stuff is really poor quality. Sell then on Facebook marketplace for free.

DisgustedOfTidmouth · 16/06/2023 18:07

Another vote for car seats.
They aren't just for kids to sit in, they are a life-saving safety device.
I personally would not be gambling my kids safety when it's impossible to know if they are fine (and I speak as someone who replaced a three-week old £350 car seat after being rear-ended)

Wherewithout · 16/06/2023 18:11

Given your update, YABU. Buy a replacement car seat!

cocksstrideintheevening · 16/06/2023 18:12

Why wouldn't you replace the car seats?

jannier · 16/06/2023 18:15

If you had any accident in your car the car seats are compromised....if your hit at a speed the stress on the seats is the combined speed of the cars so at 10 miles per hour the seat fixings go through the stress equivalent to hitting a wall at 20 miles per hour. Which is why advice is never to buy second hand. Why would you not put your children's safety first?

They sell Jole seats amongst others very good car seats.

This. Buy the car seats.

Karcher jet washer

GoodChat · 16/06/2023 18:25

You need to buy the car seats, OP.

User16387640 · 16/06/2023 18:25

You shouldn't use car seats that have been in an accident, they might have stress damage or something like that. I would buy new seats

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 16/06/2023 18:35

As someone who spent years trying to get insurers to replace car seats, I am disappointed that they don't just send you new seats.

Brollymolly · 16/06/2023 18:38

Mogwalla · 16/06/2023 17:24

Someone drove into the back of my car ( it wasn’t a bad crash) so despite the car seats being absolutely fine my insurance company gave me the voucher to get some new ones.

How about you buy the things that keep your kids safe? Your number 1 parental duty. Remember that?

Youknowaboutthepaint · 16/06/2023 18:40

I'd be too worried not to buy the car seats.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 16/06/2023 18:42

OMG! Replace the car seats. As PP have said, even a minor impact can cause damage to the car seat that you can’t see. If you have another accident, this damage could then cause the car seat to fail. Your child.children could be seriously hurt.

Mogwalla · 16/06/2023 19:19

Thanks guys, it really wasn’t a crash that impacted anything inside the car, but I will replace the seats if necessary. I still have quite a lot left over though…

There are gift card selling sites, obviously read the reviews first, maybe try one of those for the left over ones

But the quality car seats you are supposed to buy, not some cheap rubbish

Sissynova · 16/06/2023 19:24

Just buy new car seats. You literally can’t know that that are damaged and the new ones would be covered. Better safe than sorry.

User16387640 · 16/06/2023 19:26

Anything from Halfords will have passed all the safety checks, however much they cost, some people can't afford really expensive seats, all the seats will go through rigorous testing for safety.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/06/2023 19:27

I'd buy car seats. You can't see internal internal stresses that may have been caused.

If you've done some nondestructive structural testing and are sure your car seats are ok, then kids bikes? If you you car seats in your car, you must know some kids?
