Am I paying too much for sky?

Just wondering what everyone else is paying. I've just renewed my contract and as soon as put the phone down I felt like I'd been ripped off. I have kids, multi screen, movies, box sets , and of course wifi. My new contract will be £111 a month. I've got 30 days cooling period and I'm not sure whether to cancel with them and try and get a better deal. Just feels so expensive to me. Especially as my last contract with them was £65 a month! Would be good to hear what everyone else is paying.

We pay £138 a month which includes kids, movies, box sets also 2 iPhones and broadband. It's probably a rip off but I haven't found an alternative which suits us yet.

We have recently left Sky after 15 years as they wouldn't offer us a better deal. We are now with BT and pay £105 a month for the entertainment pack, Sky Sports and BT Sport in HD. Sky Cinema in HD, Netflix and broadband. Sky wanted £15 more without BT Sports or the Cinema pack.

They definitely take long time customers for granted and now it seems to get a good deal you actually have to lose your services before you will be offered one now.

How is BT TV (now EE). Been with Sky since 1992 & thinking about moving to BT as its a better deal financially.

We pay more than that as DH can’t be arsed to call them and threaten to leave.

I pay £87 for two rooms. No sports.
But that includes Netflix and paramount.

We pay £26 for WiFi via EE and use Netflix, Disney and occasionally Apple TV. It's a pain not being able to pause live but as we mainly stream and watch things on catch up, it's ok. It's certainly £100 a month better 🤣

I have the Sky basic package which is £49 a month but have that mostly because of the WIFI. Tried to find cheaper fibre WIFI elsewhere but the savings were so small it wasn't worth the hassle of swopping.

I also have a trial subscription to Now TV (£2.99 a month for 6 months - loads cheaper than paying for an upgraded Sky package) as well as Discovery + (£4.99) and the other free on demand apps like ITV Hub, C4 etc.

If there's something I really want to watch I'll sign up for a month of Netflix or Paramount but cancel right away so still have access for a month but don't end paying monthly for something don't use much.

The best bit is that as a result I cancelled my TV licence as never watch or record live TV (everything is on catchup usually within an hour) and there's very little on iplayer that interests me.

Not sure that answers the question but if you want all that Sky has to offer without the hefty price tag, there's ways of getting lots of it by having the basic package and doing pay-per-programme things through other channels.

I looked into switching WIFI to EE but honestly, Kevin Bacon annoys me too much 😂😂

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 10/03/2024 08:22

Ours is going up again but we are considering getting rid and just having Freeview because we rarely watch anything on Sky now anyway. We like Sky Atlantic but we xan wean ourselves off. It's horrendously expensive.

Update - I did move to Bt and I have to say it's been absolutely awful. They've charged me for things I haven't asked for. The recording didn't work for a good 6 months. They cut my outside cable when they installed the fibre. It's still a lot cheaper than sky but I will be moving back as soo as my contract has ended. I'd rather have a basic package with sky then any package with Bt. Maybe it's all gone wrong since it's switched to EE...
