I’ve had about enough of planned obsolescence. It seems everything these days it built to last a year or two, then fail as soon as the pitiful warrantee expires.

Our Beko tumble dryer has just failed a week out of warranty. The local white goods shop looked at it and said it’s the compressor so it’ll cost less to just buy a new one.
Phoned Beko and pointed out that it has suspiciously failed just after the warranty and they told us to just buy a new one.

This is the third Beko appliance we’ve had that has done this RIGHT after the warranty expires. (The washing machine came with the house, we foolishly bought another Beko one and my mum bought us this dryer).

I’m so incredibly exhausted this week trying to keep up with everything and having these expensive things break constantly when we’re barely making ends meet as it is is exhausting!

(note: used to just hang stuff on the line but when I had my DD things got hectic and the line got in the way)

My Beko dishwasher failed a week out of guarantee. Never even answered my email. I'd rather wash up in a freezing pond than buy anything else from those crap merchants.

We had a Carlton washer /dryer that had a bad rep but ours lasted well over 20yrs. Our Beko washing machine does what it says on the tin and is about 8yrs old, just fitting a Bosch dishwasher so I'll let you know in 10yrs!

I will never buy a Beko product - they are shit and break, and cannot be repaired. Have always saved and bought a higher quality appliance that you can get parts for. My Miele washing machine and tumble dryer are both over ten years old and still run as good as they did on day 1. On the rare occassion something has gone wrong (once in ten years) - can easily source a replacement part and fix it.

I had a washing machine that the CPU (iirc) went only swven weeks after buying it. I insisted, and got, a new machine. 5 days after the warranty ran out on the washing machine I bought originally (so the washing machine that broke was 10 months old) it broke and they wouldn't fix it. It wasn't worth paying to mend it. Their aftercare is non-existent. I'd never buy another BEKO product.

I have a Hoover washing machine which I bought via AO during lockdown. It was cheap and I expected two years max tbh. Into third year now and Hoover told me I should easily get 5 years out of it. So we will see....

Previously bought Zanussi and was not impressed at all as it was expensive. Continually having it fixed when I really should have binned the damned thing.

Also of mention is the fact we bought Rangemaster goods and the shop we bought from actually stopped stocking them because of customer complaints.

I had 2 BEKO washing machine both stopped working after 2 years. I was skint so bought a £140 Bush one. It's still going strong after 7 years.

I had few beko things and they lasted well.
Agree with pp you are quite unlucky!

There is an argument abour reasonable time it should last. Look it up on Money saving expert

Came on to say this re reasonable time and MSE!

I'm a satisfied customer of Beko. My washing machine lasted 10 years and the (much less frequently used) tumble dryer is still on the go. The new Beko washing machine is out of warranty now but showing no signs of giving up the ghost.

Brefugee · 13/06/2023 13:39

OTOH i bought a cheap BEKO washing machine to use in my weekday flat (long commute) 6 years ago. When i moved back to my home our old machine packed in so we use that. and it's fine (apart from all the markings have worn off so we printed one off the internet and stuck it on)

White goods of the washer dryer variety? i go for Miele

We have been lucky with Beko, had a couple of washers and dishwasher. The first washer lasted 4 years which I think I'd reasonable for a £350 machine.
Meanwhile, our Shark Vacuum literally went up in a puff of smoke 10 days after the warranty expired. We are pretty light users and it was an awkward fucker to use.
Have replaced with a £200 robot which is pleasing.

Our Beko fridge freezer has been going for about 18 years. I hate the bastard because it has the freezer at the top and frozen things land on my foot with alarming regularity because there are no drawers, just a shelf. But I can't justify changing it while it keeps hobbling on.
