Dh has just bought a new Kyak.

He has 2 already so said i can have to money to go shoppping with too.

I told him I want a new buggy and he moaned about it.

Ok, so I don't actually need a new buggy, the one(s) we have work perfectly well but 1 is too bulky and the wheels squeek and piss me off (I never use this one, its in teh loft), the other is old(ds3s from when he was about 5 months) and has mouldy spots on it from getting damp in the garage and the other is my lovely 3 wheeler that is used whenever I/we walk anywhere, which we do quite alot.

Its teh moudy one that I want to replace, it does get used alot because its in the car so I use it for school, shopping etc etc (3 wheeler is a pain to get in th car).

I knwo its ridiculous to want another new one but I don't want anything else, I would enjoy (yes thats right enjoy) a new buggy.
So, isn't it a abit rich of DH to moan about it when he has 2 Kyaks already and a new buggy cost 1/4 of the cost.

But all your buggys are for different things too. One for long walks, one for in the car.....

Tutter · 21/02/2008 21:38

lth

i have 2 kids and 2 buggies

using the same ratio, of 1 buggy per child, you are due a brand new one in addition to the ones you have

Isn't the rule, new baby, new buggy?

ladytophamhatt · 23/02/2008 14:24

yes.

Thats the one that in the loft.....

it was a bad choice.

OP posts:
anorak · 23/02/2008 14:24

My opinion is that the buggy is a necessity and the kayak is a middle-aged man's toy.

foxythesnowman · 23/02/2008 14:27

I thought you had 4 lo's? And 3 buggies?

Which means you are owed a buggy + interest? And I see you have addressed that deficit.

Foxy, If I average it out over the years I would hazard a guess that each ds (you're right there are 4 of them) ahs probably had 2.5 - 3 buggies/prams each!!!

Can someone explain the "hun" and "for sale" thingy?

alfiesbabe · 23/02/2008 14:42

You are joking right? Why do either of you need multiple kayaks or multiple buggies? Either you've got too much money or too little sense or both

ladytophamhatt · 23/02/2008 14:51

Thanks.

Come on LTH, there MUST be something else that you would enjoy more than a new buggy!! Clearly, you need a treat too.. and each to their own and all.. but wanting so many buggies is a bit (well very!) hun-like.. and something of equal cost, given a little thought, could surely be more enjoyable.. (especially when you have 3 is it? others already..)

Think.. a beauty treatment..
a new outfit,
a few new cds that you like the sound of..
" " dvds " "
A cinema trip or meal out for girly time with best mate

Or a buggy if you must obviously!

Or maybe you could wait until you really do want/need something (a buggy or any of the above) and then you won't be shelling out for two treats at the same time.

DH is always saying to me, have this, have that.. but I know darn well he will then go and treat himself as well straight away, and I end up thinking we can't afford the expense so I don't have my treat either!

Miggsie · 23/02/2008 15:18

It's a male brain thing...friends DH bought a new satellite system while she wanted to get a new washing machine...she hit the roof at his expenditure, and he looked completely blank and said "well if you need a washing machine, buy one then". She tried to talk to him about budgeting and saving money but he went sort of strange...male brain says "I want new sateillite system, money in bank therefore I buy", he was not at all against her buying stuff it's just she was no good at spending money and he was as he never bothered about long term considerations like savings (this is why men gamble millions ont he stock market without a qualm)...what you need to do is make it is MISSION to buy a new buggy and if he is like friends DH he will come back with the most expensive one WITH all the gadgets as it was "the best" and "only £50 more" etc etc.

FourPlusOne · 23/02/2008 15:46

My DH does this kind of thing too. Is moaning about me wanting a new buggy - like you I have a 3 wheeler that is fab but not car friendly and a buggy for the car. Car buggy is not that good. I want to replace the car buggy for something a bit better.

We do walk a lot so it would get used loads. Moans at this kind of thing but is forever ordering gatgety things off the internet that cost a fortune (when added up) ie bits for his ipod, and doesn't see what is wrong with this!

He is BU.

ladytophamhatt · 23/02/2008 16:58

Shiny, I don't reallly "do" beauty stuff.

I'm beautiful enough!

No, I just can't bare paying £X for a facial, massage or whatever only to come out of the shop and have nothing to show for it, or wash off all the beauty lotions that have been carefully appiled when I go to bed.
False nails just annoy me and my feet would need filling with an electrc plainer before I'd let any poor unsuspecting professional see them.

I've enough got clothes, I buy bits and bobs here and there so don't really need any more. same with summer clothes so don't need to get anything else.

Ditto bags. I do love bags but all the one I really like are ££££££ and I wouldn't pay it on principle , although I did buy a new purse today which I've been trying to do for weeks.

My nice new buggy will get used alot and I will enjoy it

Maybe I've released my inner-hun??

TBH, I thought mould spots were a bad thing. I thought they released spores and whatnot that are not exactly great for the lungs, especially those of a small child. You are justified in your purchase.

I do find it a bit odd that he doesn't feel the need to get your agreement on the kyak, but feels more than justified in bitching about yours.

and btw, "so said i can have to money to go shoppping with too." ?? Does the money not belong to BOTH of you ?

beaniesteve · 23/02/2008 17:15

You should get a new buggy and money for something for yourself. I don't understand why your treat (the one you get seeing as he got a Kyak) should be a buggy.

Of course it's up to you what you spend your money on but you have your fab three wheeler.

ladytophamhatt · 23/02/2008 18:45

Ndp, the mould spots are left afte I scrubbed and scrubbed it trying to remove them. Its been in the wahsing nachine too but they still wouldn't budge.

Agree re money is both of ours too although the new kayak was bought with money because he sold his bike.

OP posts:
glucose · 23/02/2008 18:56

I love buggies too, have another one if its what you want.
Don't understand why you need 3 kyaks at all, but would't expect someone who does feel they want a 3rd kyak to understand buggy lust
My dd has a tesco delivery crate she calls her boat, she wanted me to take her to nursery in it yesterday. I explained it had no wheels and I couldn't push her in it, 5 minute stand off about this. So we could do with a handy river towards nursery and kyak. Maybe I'd put buggy lust aside for kyak lust
