..and would probably sleep another hour if I didn´t wake him up? It´s technically his 9 month check but he´s almost 10 months´old because I was slack at making the appt..

there are no vaccinations, it´s the normal weighing, measuring, checking ears and eyes stuff.. should I reschedule (which might mean waiting another few weeks) or wake him up?

Can I just ask a silly question. Are they all SUPPOSED to have a nine months check then? Because DD2 is 10 plus months and no-one's told us! Been 11 years since me last baby.. Oops

Maveta - I was outraged when this happened to my DS at one of his check-ups with the Paed and I wish it had occurred to me to warn you this a.m. It took about 4 days until my DS willy looked normal again and the Paed did it so forcefully he drew blood - God I´m horrified now just thinking back

Where I am in Spain the check is at 10 months but they don´t do the MMR jab here until 15 months so maybe thats why they do an interim check otherwise there´d be nothing from 6 months until 15 ifyswim

PuppyMonkey, I think they should have a check but depends on what your local HVs are like. Round my way they don't have enough staff so we get sent a questionnaire to fill it & then they'll contact us for an appt if they think there's anything to worry about. Might be worth ringing them if you really want your dc to have one!

bebespain - I am absolutely livid poor ds woke up for his normal last feed at 10pm and normally would feed quickly and go back down and he´s still up and crying now (dh has taken over to give me a break!) Really hope it gets better soon.

In Spain we don't get HV's or midwives that come to your house after birth etc. Instead we get regular check ups with Paed. Don't compare it to English system...completely different, I've no idea when you get check ups but I'm sure you'd be told!

Can't believe that happened to your DS too bebespain it must be just the norm and I was here thinking DS had a problem.

lokka · 21/02/2008 21:45

OMG maveta..are you sure that's what it is, it couldn't be teeth or anything else could it?

Poor thing..hope you get some sleep soon.

lokka · 21/02/2008 22:00

By the way, DS had 9 month check up last week and same thing happened..it was red and sore looking for 3-4 days and now fine, I nearly took him back to show Paed damage done, maybe you could do that?

bebespain · 21/02/2008 22:01

It´s disgusting isn´t it. Your poor DS maveta. Paeds here have a lot to answer for carrying out this barbaric and totally outdated practice - double

Hope he´s managed to settle now, poor little mite

bebespain · 21/02/2008 22:03

I will be most prepared when I take DS for 15 month check next month. No way will I allow that to happen again. Over my dead body - grrr

Maveta · 21/02/2008 22:13

he´s finally settled. it´s definitely that, as I was feeding him I could tell he was having a pee and then started squirming and grimacing in discomfort and then just started crying changed his nappy and while doing that he peed some more and cried even more right at that moment

I think going back would just make me more angry, it´s not like the doc will actually take on board my opinion.

Dh is indignant aswell, it´s mostly the fact that he didn´t ask permission to do it. They wouldn´t (ime) carry out a similar procedure on an adult without warning so shouldn´t do it to your child either.

Totally agree Maveta and that´s just how I felt. Was the same here no permission,no warning, nothing - outrageous. Your´e right he wouldn´t take on board your opinion, well I know mine wouldn´t.

Glad your DS has settled and hopefully he´ll be back to normal in a couple of days, was about 4 days ´til my son´s calmed down and it took even longer for me!
