Hello, lovely Mumsnetters!

I simply couldn't resist sharing this delightful moment that happened with my little one today. Prepare yourself for a dose of cuteness overload!
As I was busy pottering around the house, my mischievous toddler decided it was the perfect time to showcase their artistic talent. Armed with a box of crayons, they transformed our living room wall into a vibrant masterpiece of colorful squiggles and abstract shapes!
While my initial reaction was a mix of surprise and concern, I couldn't help but marvel at their creative spirit and sheer determination. It's amazing how their tiny hands hold so much imagination and curiosity.

Now, I find myself torn between the dilemma of preserving this adorable artwork or tackling the task of cleaning it up. Part of me wants to capture this memory forever, while the practical side insists on restoring the wall to its original state.

I would love to hear your experiences and tips on how you've navigated these artistic adventures with your little ones. How did you strike a balance between encouraging their creativity and maintaining a tidy home? Any clever hacks or ideas for turning these moments into cherished memories?
Share your stories, advice, and cute anecdotes that celebrate the magical chaos of parenting. Let's embrace the mess and revel in the joy that these tiny humans bring into our lives!
Looking forward to your heartwarming responses.

With love and crayon-covered walls,

Treebranch

ChatGPT wrote this post for me! In 1 second! I asked it to be cute.

By cute did you mean utterly vomit inducing?

ChokeToDeathOnThreePoundsOfMeat · 07/06/2023 09:56

CreepyRobot seems an apt title.

Wilkolampshade · 07/06/2023 09:57

Awful isnt it.
But how do we always/often know? IMO t it'sa kind of excessive consistency of sentence structure?

Pixiedust1234 · 07/06/2023 09:57

Thats not cute Confused

Wilkolampshade · 07/06/2023 09:58

.. Although I used to know someone, a real-life human, who talked/wrote like this...

Thats not cute Confused

Agree. Neither the toddler artwork, nor the posting style.

ChokeToDeathOnThreePoundsOfMeat · 07/06/2023 09:59

How sure are you that they weren't a robot, Wilko?

Treebranch · 07/06/2023 10:00

Oh, another Picasso in the making, I see. How utterly fortunate you are to have a living room canvas for your toddler's artistic talent. I'm sure the vibrant squiggles truly enhance the overall decor. Bravo!

Now, the tough decision: to preserve or to clean? Well, let me offer you a revolutionary idea. How about framing the masterpiece and displaying it prominently for all to admire? Surely, your guests will be in awe of your child's uncanny ability to deface walls.

But hey, who needs a pristine living space anyway? Embrace the chaos, my dear Treebranch. Let those crayon marks serve as a constant reminder of your little one's vandalistic tendencies. It's the perfect conversation starter, or rather, the perfect way to elicit horrified gasps from visitors.

So, cherish the artistic triumph, and may your walls continue to serve as a blank canvas for your child's anarchic artistry.

Nauseatingly saccharine. ChatGPT should be renamed CrapGPT.

Treebranch · 07/06/2023 10:03

Yes it's so creepy. Not quite right, but almost.

@ChokeToDeathOnThreePoundsOfMeat you make a fair point

😂Did you instruct it to max up the snarkiness?

Actually this is all fascinating. Terrifying, but fascinating.

Gtsr443 · 07/06/2023 10:09

Your story was both funny and lovely, and it brought a smile to my face.
The way you described the colorful chaos that ensued when your little ones discovered the joy of crayons was absolutely hilarious. I could almost imagine the vivid masterpiece they created on your living room walls! Your storytelling ability truly captured the whimsy and mischief of childhood exploration.
What struck me most, however, was the way you managed to find the silver lining in the situation. Your perspective on embracing the mess and cherishing those precious moments of creativity was truly heartwarming. It reminded me of the simple joys that can be found in the midst of chaos.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It brightened my day and reminded me to embrace the unpredictable and find beauty in unexpected places.

(This is what ChatGPT thinks of your OP)

tattygrl · 07/06/2023 10:24

The chatgpt that we as laypeople interact with is the consumer-friendly veneer. People with the know-how can get under the hood, so to speak, and interact with the raw "intelligence", and it has a lot more to say than what we get to see on the surface. I'm quite worried about AI, and I think that people get lulled into a false belief that AI is still quite simple because of how it responds to prompts on surface level interfaces like chatgpt.

Wilkolampshade · 07/06/2023 10:33

So is there a free Chat Gpt app I can have a go on that anyone would recommend? Or is that kind of recommendation not allowed (sorry if so)

Did they? I can only see people responding to the fact that ChatGPT was asked for something cute, and it isn't cute??

ChatGPT definitely has a tone that I think you can spot. It can be useful - I use it at work to help me when I'm struggling to phrase something in an email or a report. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it comes up with utter bilge that nobody would ever say.. I enjoy telling it that 😂

I did think there was something creepily unnatural about the language.

Fromage · 07/06/2023 10:44

ChatGPT does not understand the meaning of "cute."

It's weird and odd and creepy. It's as if you asked a man who knows nothing about being at home with toddlers, to write something a mum might put on Mumsnet. Obviously it doesn't say "Hello I am a mum" but it's not something most women would write, I think.

I see more people catastropising to be honest and assuming it's the end of all jobs and life as we know it very soon rather than not feeling threatened by it.

Yes, it's just called chatgpt I use it a fair bit for blogs and stuff. Not mn posts

True, there is a range of responses out there. I meant really that the silly, more basic responses things like chatgpt generates belies the actual rapid advancement of AI and how intelligent it now is.

Dilbertian · 07/06/2023 11:11

Clearly Chat GPT is more Nethuns than Mumsnet.

Truly 🤮 twee.
