There's an event I want to go to which tickets are now sold out. There are a few sellers online that I have found selling their tickets if they can't go any longer/changed their minds etc.

One seller has informed me that I have to pay via something called Paysafe (which is a prepaid voucher I buy in a shop I think) and the seller will release the tickets.

Has anyone ever does this before or does it sound like a scam?

Scam

Scam, normal people don't make you pay in vouchers. Scammers do this so you can't withdraw the payment later though your bank etc when the tickets don't materialise.

Thank you. That's what I needed to hear!

OP try Twickets and if there's no tickets on there at present, set an alert to be told when some go on sale.

Twickets is fan to fan resale at face value, or less.

I got £100 Foo Fighters tickets on there on day of concert for £20. Rammstein tickets a few days before gig half the face value.
