Well obviously I read that wrong.

Enjoy all.

OP I've visited a Mosque with Beavers as an adult leader.

There was no expectation that we wore head scarves. Just that we removed our shoes.

I wore uniform 😄.

Why has the school not told helpers what the dress code is?

They always do here.

Head covering will depend on mosque, when I’ve visited they have been expected. The times I have been my Muslim friends have kindly styled a pashmina for me!

Otherwise loose fitting full length trousers and elbows covered

The need for a head covering may vary - our local mosque asked the girls in a Y6 class to cover their heads (which didn't go down well with the parents...). If you've got a scarf, I'd take it; you can always keep it in your bag if it isn't needed.

was it am all girls school or a mixed-sex school? If mixed-sex, did they ask the boys to cover their heads?

I went on a work thing at our local mosque a few years ago and we were told to bring scarves/wear socks in the information about the event. It was winter but I wore wide leg trousers with brogues, and a fitted jumper. My mum lent me what Mumsnet would describe as an “indoor scarf” which was a kind of paisley print. My female colleague had a wool (?) pashmina and ended up being very hot!

Mixed sex school. And no, boys were not required to cover their heads. Hence the unimpressed parents.

They haven't said. So I might bring some spare scarves for other mums. In case. And closed shoes and socks. Hadn't thought of that.

Thanks. Feel less like it was a stupid question now!

Does the mosque have a website? The one near my house has community days where somebody that isn't Muslim can come and visit. They ask that you wear a skirt or pants to your ankles and sleeves to your wrists and then take a scarf to cover your hair in parts of the building. It's all on the website.

I went on a school trip with primary-aged children and they expected all the girls to wear head scarves. We prepped the children for this beforehand so no one had an issue with it. I just wore my normal clothes I wore to teach in - long trousers and a t-shirt (not a vest) will be fine.
