You'd be cool with that in your kids eye then?

Needles and nail scissors can cause extreme harm, but both of these are allowed. The measure of safety and legality should not be "can this go near (IN!) someone's eye?".

No, it's not!

Irresponsible of the OP to post a link for people to buy it.

HowcanIhelp123 · 05/06/2023 20:09

Not legal. Yes you can carry a multi-tool with a small blade etc if its for the use of the tools. You can carry a cricket bat because you're on your way to cricket. However, carrying a blade/bat whatever for the purpose of hurting an attacker specifically is illegal! It's premeditation.

Same as keeping a bat/knife etc under your bed in case of burglars - illegal and premeditated. If however someone broke in and you smacked them with a hairdryer that legitimately lives by your bed because thats where you dry your hair and it's just what you had to hand and grabbed then thats self defence and fine (as long as force was reasonable etc).

Quveas · 05/06/2023 21:27

I happened several weeks ago to have some people in at a meeting who were talking about these things (and worse!), and was (a) gobsmacked such things existed and were commonly being carried especially by young people, and (b) by the fact that they were actually not illegal!

On a separate note, we afterwards had a long conversation with our building security who let two people carrying a huge array of offensive weapons enter a public building without being stopped or questioned during ahightened security alert period!!!!

For those who think it's probably illegal, after what I saw paraded as "defensive" in that meeting, I would lay bets that you are actually wrong. I was appalled.

JustGeorgie · 05/06/2023 21:27

@Precipice

Allowed yes, but not marketed as 1/ a weapon or 2/ something to wear

Augend23 · 05/06/2023 21:34

I didn't think spring blades were allowed either? I.e. where you flip a switch and it springs open.

So, illegal if it locks, illegal if it springs, illegal if it's a knuckleduster, illegal if it's an intended weapon. So many different ways to break the law.

BogRollBOGOF · 05/06/2023 21:43

I've got no intention of carrying something in the name of self defence that could easily be turned back on me. An aggressor would be far more prepared to back on me than me wielding it in a strategic or panicked state.

You're more likely to be stabbed on your own knife.

Yes but far less likely to punch yourself in the eye with that

JustGeorgie · 05/06/2023 23:59

In my occupation one of these could do a lot of damage

Something else to lookout for!

Yes this is what I was thinking.

@Iyiyiiii

in case anyone doesnt want to click on that cesspool of a site....

Why do you say that? I saw it in my side bar adverts on this site and don't know anything about it. It looked like a sort of secret compartment ring which is what interested me.

Is it a bad site?

I would 100% knife myself in the face with this on day 1.

JazbayGrapes · 06/06/2023 12:34

If you have a bat, always keep a ball beside it.

I hate that item; no idea if it’s legal or not!

However the site is fine for ordering cheap games etc for the kids. Got Uno for a £1 last week and a few other games for a couple of £ and free delivery. All arrived within 2 weeks in good, new condition.
