New speak to keep some people happy and not offend or misgender is becoming common practice but goes against reality. I'm totally fed up of it and will not use this type of speak. Brendan O'Neill has written a critically acclaimed new book about this 'new speak' Some of the things below that have been said in court/written in headlines or people say to avoid upsetting men and their fragile realities.

"Ex-soldier exposed her penis and used wheelie bin as sex toy in public', said a headline in Metro in April 2022"

"A Glasgow-born sex offender has admitted exposing her penis', said the Daily Record"

"Teesside Live, which covers Middlesbrough, the part of the UK in which this mammalistic anomaly reportedly whipped out her phallus, went all out. 'Teesside woman accused of exposing penis', its headline declared."

"She is charged with committing a public nuisance by indecently exposing her penis to other members of the public, while masturbating from a property window,' readers were informed."

AIBU - you should go along with it to keep the individual happy.

YANBU - it's a load of rubbish, don't join it.

The pronoun thing is a 'big deal' because it implies that the person is the opposite sex to the one they actually are. Its inaccurate and incorrect.

A pronoun is simply about your sex, nothing else. Its nothing to do with gender.

People are also having crimes recorded as committed by women when they are committed by men, thats why accurate speech and recording is important.

OP, you say you "will not use this type of speak"

Are you referring to this one, extreme example? Or to all uses of pronouns which seem incorrect to you?

If it's the latter, then YABU. It's 2023! Transgender people or people who use alternative pronouns have the right to be referred to as they wish. It's really not a big deal, and I genuinely can't understand why people get so worked up about it.

If it's the former, this example is not typical of transgender or gender fluid people. Be worked up about it if you have the time and energy. But to turn it into a debate about pronouns seems odd imo.

So because it's '2023' then it is ok in your opinion for some to COMPEL others. If someone wants to refer to themselves in a particular why then fine but telling others that they must do so too, is not on 2023 or any other year. In my opinion, it's not ok to compel others to use a particular speech.

Why do you merely go along with it. Do you not question the compelling of others. Yet some will call me cis and I'm supposed to accept that - why exactly can they misgender me and yet tell me what I should call them.

Why do the courts go along with it? Why do the victims of crime have to go along with it. Her penis is biologically wrong. I'm not going to

Biological facts not some ideological beliefs. More and more people are realising the nonsense that we as a society are being told to accept.

I knew someone would explain it much better than I could. This is why @amandanorgaard for factual correctness.

Ever since PM Theresa put Self ID out there and made woman mean no more than a feeling, the whole world of language has gone to pot.🙄

Brexit did a lot of damage to the meaning of words as well. And don't get me started on PM Liz TrusterfuckEconomics and her left wing international money markets.🤯

Bastard Tories.😤 Nothing is sacred when they're in government.

TooBigForMyBoots · 04/06/2023 19:43

That should say PM Theresa May.

On a side note, it makes you wonder what it is about all these men calling themselves women and depraved behaviour. Why are so many cases like this coming up?

As a woman, and a lesbian, I find it absolutely disgusting to be perfectly honest. Invalidation, erasure, dangerous.

AttilaThePun · 04/06/2023 20:05

I don’t use preferred pronouns - it’s a system of believing in gender and the misogyny that inevitably leads the way.
I don’t believe in gender, all it is is a set of stereotypes that currently tell us that anyone not adhering to them is the opposite sex.
I preferred the time when boys and girls could do whatever they wanted, regardless of their sex.

There is a lot on twitter on the LGB without the T now.

The men that think they are women who then feel they are lesbians - surely that's just a straight man in a dress. The ones who tell biological women whether straight, gay or Bi how they should think. They are disgusting.
