Discovered blue cheese had brown patch in just as finished it - food poisoning?

I am immune compromised and generally ok but usually pay attention to food spoilage. However was enjoying a lump of blue cheese and then as finishing it, saw a strange brown bit in it?

I mean, it tasted good, it tasted stronger than usual and I'm tempted to eat more Grin but should I bin it for safety?

Have you ever got ill from dodgy cheese, what should I do?

Cheese never normally hangs around our fridge long enough to be uncertain of the freshness as we usually get through it. And I get that blue cheese is mould anyway but could this have been a strange new mould on top of my beloved tasty blue mould?

Can you just remove the brown bit and eat the rest?

I find that sometimes that brown crust penetrates a bit deeper here and there. I leave it and its never been an issue.

I come across this semi-regularly with Stilton in particular and never been ill with it yet.

Ah, yes maybe that would work. I thought it was randomly appearing in the cheese but makes sense that it's probably closer to the rind edge so will see if I can cut it off.

Frankly, it is riddled with mould but I think you will find this is just the chesse being a little over-ripe.
